3 weeks from tomorrow (technically "today", it's after midnight) I'll be moving to a state I've never even visited.
And I'm freaking excited about it!!
I went through most of my stuff in the garage today...boxes and the like. I'm getting rid of about 90% of my decorations and odds-and-ends type stuff. I've already gotten rid of a lot of clothes, books and DVD's.
...but I have wayyyyy more kitchen stuff than I thought I did, and it looks like I'm going to end up shipping several boxes. For instance, my Kitchenaid stand mixer...it'll cost between $30-40 to ship it, but that's much cheaper than replacing it, plus I'm kind of in love with the thing, so...it's worth it.
The cats are going to be a hassle, but...the things we do for our animals, right? I need to get them to the vet this week or next...get them up to date on their shots, and get a certificate of clean health to show the airline to prove it's okay for me to take my animals into the state. Kind of weird...I wouldn't have to do all that if I was driving, but since I'm flying...whatever.
I bought hiking/trail running shoes today on Zappo.com...don't know why I'm including that tidbit of info, probably because I'm SO super stoked about the fifty million places there are to go hiking around Sitka!
Also, I'm switching my cell service to AT&T. T-Mobile is not an option in Alaska; they're contracted with other carriers' towers, but it's not the same, and it would still be long distance for Alaska peeps to call me.
My new phone should be arriving Tuesday. I'll still have the same phone number until after I arrive in Sitka, at which point I'll call and get my number switched to a local number. My new phone is pretty kickass though...Samsung Eternity. Isaiah just switched to AT&T too and got the same phone (Samsung Eternity). I wondered if it would be weird to have the same phone, and he informed me that he thought it was "cute". But he was playing with it one evening while talking to me and it's pretty nifty.
Speaking of Isaiah, have I mentioned the boy is freaking HOT? I'd post a picture, but I'm trying not to act too much like I'm in high school. Plus, I'd feel kinda weird about posting a picture of someone else online without them knowing about it. I already feel superficial enough...but, he is - extremely good looking - and his personality is absolutely stellar. The boy is pretty much amazing. And he's the one picking me up at the airport. I already informed him I demand a hug, not a handshake. He seemed agreeable.
So...guess that's about it for the moment. Mom's still on somewhat of a rollercoaster, perfectly happy one minute and offering to help me research box-shipping prices and the next minute acting like I did something to tick her off. I think I'm just going to have to get used to it and remember that parents are as far from perfect as their kids are, otherwise I'll go crazy.'
All for now...
