I have tried doing this meme several times, and this time I finally managed to write five more or less decent drabbles. Probably less.
1. Pick a character, pairing, or fandom you like.
2. Put iTunes or equivalent media player on random.
3. For each song that plays, write something related to the theme you picked inspired by the song. You have only the time frame of the song: no planning beforehand: you start when it starts, and no lingering afterward; once the song is over, you stop writing. (No fair skipping songs either; you have to take what comes by chance!)
4. Do 5 of these, then post.
Fandom: Temeraire
Warnings: Fluff, silliness

Everybody's Makin' Big But Me- Dr Hook
It was not fair at all, Temeraire thought as he cast one last glance back at the covert before heading for the port and the waiting Allegiance. Without him none of the other dragons would have had rank or been paid and Perscitia and the others would still be lying around in the breeding grounds being lazy all day. But rather than getting to enjoy the fruit of his labours, he had to go all the way to Australia where there weren’t even any other dragons. Even Iskierka, who had done nothing but being disobedient and taking prizes for herself got to stay. It really was not fair at all.

Never Gonna Be The Same- Bob Dylan
Granby found it difficult to explain his new-found loyalty towards captain Laurence to his old friends in the corps. Even when most of the resentment at him being a naval officer and harnessing one of the world’s most valuable dragons had died down, and Laurence had proved to be as caring and skilled a captain as any in the corps, most of the aviators still agreed that he was a rather strange fellow. Granby could not help but share that sentiment, to a certain extent, but nonetheless he enjoyed Laurence’s company. It got tiresome, sometimes, on the one hand defending Laurence and his quirks (which he had learned that Laurence himself called ‘manners’) against the jokes of his old mates, and on the other having to explain and defend the practises of the corps to his captain. He felt torn, as it were, but curious at the same time, because no matter what might happen in the future, he guessed it would not be like anything he had ever seen before.

Can't Escape From You- Bob Dylan
Tharkay eyed Laurence carefully. Australia had done the man good, he decided. He’d put on some much needed weight since their last meeting and his face had a healthy sunburn.
”Tenzing,” Laurence looked genuinely shocked at seeing him there. ”You are back in Australia.”
Tharkay raised an eyebrow.
“You sound surprised. One should think that you would have realised by now that you will not be rid of me so easily.”

I'll Love You Forever- Neil Young
The waves were rolling steadily over the sandy beach, the sun setting in a brilliant display of colour across the sea. Laurence leaned against Temeraire’s warm side and picked up his book. Australia was not so bad after all, with the right company.

I'd Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That)- Meat Loaf
”Laurence.” Temeraire said, a strange note of anxiety in his voice that made Laurence put down his quill and look up from the report he was writing.
”Yes, my dear?”
”That thing that Wellesley said to Iskierka… That if she didn’t follow orders he would command Granby to serve on another dragon instead?”
Laurence nodded, not liking the direction that this conversation would undoubtedly take. It had been a cruel thing to say, probably far crueller than Wellesley realised.
”If he did that, Granby would have to obey, would he not? Because it would be his duty?”
“Yes, it would be his duty,” Laurence agreed, trying not to sound as dubious as he felt.
”Then,” Temeraire turned his head away, seemingly examining a turf of grass slightly to the left of Laurence, ”they could order you to do that too. And you would have to obey, because it is your duty, and you always say we must do our duty.”
Laurence reached out a hand to stroke the dragon’s muzzle, thinking for once that there are things that are far more important than duty and honour.
”My dear,” he said as Temeraire leaned into the touch, ”I would do anything for duty, but I will not do that.”
