Thanks Al. Yes, there needs to be an alternative, we need to do better as a country for these guys. Maybe I am pig headed enough to attempt this myself.... I want our group to get a shelter one day, based on the no kill philosophy. Australia desperately needs it. It's not ok to kill something just because it's too hard.

I think it a wonderful thought to be able to home all of the unwanteds...

But I just don't see how it happening.

Considering the manner in which people let their animals breed and all those people who will simply throw their "babies" out like the used rubbish...

I know there are lots of people who would like to see none of them come to harm .. but who would foot the bill for the homing and care for them? People don't often care to put their money where their mouth is. If you can find a viable solution, you'd certainly have my support. :)

I think it's a mammoth task and would take years. But someone has to try. There's no doubt that it could not occur without certain legal changes (such as strict enforcement of desexing with fines etc). I'd also like to see more financial assistance for veterinary services (kind of like a medicare for pets). Vets and people in the veterinary industry need to be able to earn better wages and there need to be government funded no kill sanctuaries...... I don't think it can all happen but I am sure as hell willing to try. People are often very bad to their animals.... there need to be repercussions of their actions when they neglect or hurt their animals.........
I'll do as much as I can. In the very least I'd like to get a shelter built for our group that's no kill in the next 10 years. Wish me luck......
I don't have a great view of people and the things they do but I love animals enough to try.

You have just mentioned a few of the ever growing list of reasons I stopped working for and volunteering with the RSPCA.
