ALCS CHAMPS!

apolla, remember the coney island we ate at when you were here, inside Comerica Park? Remember driving by Tiger Stadium, Blue Castle weekenders? (It's in Corktown, about a stone's throw from stinaleigh's stomping grounds.) Hope you saved those pics we took, you honorary Detroiters, because...

TIGERS RULE! I'll download my picture(s) tonight, I think. Me, big tiger.

I honestly do not understand what people from outside Detroit have against it. Maybe it really is that I live in a city where people will knife you soon as look at you, that I live in a town with massive wealth and terrible poverty side by side. But I liked it. Perhaps it's that I'm seeing it on the way back up, but it's a good city. It's not dead just yet, right?

I'm going to find out which channels will be showing the World Series here so I can cheer alongside you all.

*hugs*

Dear, dear, dear Clare!

Have so much to tell you until I barely know where to begin. A phone call within the next week or two is definitely in order... I'll do the honors.

*hugs tight*

Miss you and wish I could have stowed away in my roommate's luggage... she and her mom were in London for her birthday last week. She's just back home today.

Wish you were here!

:-D

I'm rooting for the Saints, too, of course, on general principle. And the Lions are the only Detroit pro sports team who haven't won a championship during my lifetime. (But at this rate, I think I'm going to go buy a jersey and start attending games--because it's only a matter of time!)

Thanks! Now let's see who comes out of the NLCS alive. I'm watching the game @ home tonight, and my money's on St. Louis. ALL of the old grizzled Detroiters are chomping at the bit for a '68 replay... man, these baseball diehards are deep! I don't think there's any other sport where people hold grudges and keep rivalries going for 60, 70, even 80 years!

I *hate* it when people start talking about Detroit's "inferiority complex". Dude, we don't have one. You just want to think we do. Michiganders in general, in my opinion, are fine with Detroit. We're proud of who we are, our roots and our history (for the most part). It's the rest of you assholes who think we should feel bad. Say that to my face, bitch. :) Also, I know what commentators you're talking about (during the Yankees game) and he actually said an inferiority complex as wide as the Windsor River and everyone in the room was like "It's the Detroit River, you dipshit ( ... )

Woo Hoo!!

We are in the World Series!!!

I want Detroit to win just to hear my son's totally cute and incorrect lyrics to "We are the Champions" (he's 4, what can I say?).

Lemme know where you're gonna be next weekend. Maybe we can hook up and watch the game somewhere.

YES! Call me so we can scheme... I want to be right in the thick of things, so let's think about Chelli's (sp?) or the DBC, or another spot if you've got one in mind. (BTW, I cannot *believe* they closed down Agave!)
