Orlando Sighting :D

Okay, not quite, but at least a mention.

Howard Taylor does Schlock Mercenary, the best SF web comic I've run into. He also does movie reviews, and today he posted one about the new Three Musketeers movie. He mentioned Orlando in a way I thought people over here would get a kick out of:

I thought the trailer looked like fun, and have been looking forward to seeing it even not counting Orlando being in it. I'll grant you it doesn't look like it bears much resemblance to the original Dumas, but then there've been so many versions of Three Musketeers, I think they really have to start getting creative if they want to do more. It's like Romeo and Juliet; West Side Story and Grease are way off the map, but it's clear where they come from and they're fun in their own right, for different reasons.

I like steampunk (and I think Howard was being a bit uptight in his declaration that 3M is set too early to be steampunk -- I'm of the looks like a duck, swims like a duck, quacks like a duck school of thought here) so I'll probably enjoy this as a popcorn movie, even if I'm not expecting it to get any Oscar nominations. :)

150 years too early to be steampunk, the historian in me is compelled to say, but whatever. I just don't do movies, never have much, LOTR being the exception that proves the rule.

So hey, how are you? I hope you post some about what's up with you.

I enjoy movies, although I don't see many in the theater anymore, and I'm sure I'll enjoy this one. If nothing else, there's some great eye candy in it. :D ( ... )

I would totally sign that petition, if for no other reason than to see Orlando in a hoop skirt. :D
