Top Five Games I Played in 2020

Dec 28, 2020 12:14

2020 was a garbage year, what with the coronavirus outbreak, subsequent lockdown, and subsequent failure to achieve my goals for the year. But, there is a small light, in the form of the few games I've played through this year.
Like last year, I will not put on entries from the last two lists. Here it is.

5. Darkest Dungeon

This is a roguelike RPG in which your characters will permanently die. I tried to play it on stream, but some bizarre conflict with OBS causes it to freeze at the end of an expedition. I'll see if it's even possible for me to fix it because I really want to do a playthrough on Twitch.

4. Frogatto and Friends

This is not me breaking my own rule. I said I'm excluding entries if I've already put them on a past list. I can add Frogatto to my 2020 list even though I have played it years ago. Especially now, that it's one of the games I started trying to speedrun.

3. Sega Bass Fishing

One of the few, if only, instances where I beat a video game during a Cookie of Fortune stream. This game is also very enjoyable in its own right. It's an arcade fishing game, where the goal is to catch fish that are big enough to let you advance to the next round. Let's hope I can beat more games next year!

2. Terraria

I've played this game a lot before I decided to stream the Journey's End update. The stuff added with Journey's End is so fun to mess around with, but the Research mechanic makes the mode incredibly easy. It lets you duplicate items after you research enough copies of the items.

1 (Say it with me). Pokemon Sword

I've literally played this game all year. I've already written about the drama that surrounded this game
and if you want to read my thoughts on it, click here. Thankfully, it all died down over time, so let's just talk about my overall thoughts. I've thoroughly enjoyed the base game and the post-game, and the downloadable content added two storylines that I loved thoroughly.
And there's my Top 5 for the year. Next year is uncertain about how many new games I'll want and be able to play, so I might end up playing more older games, so.

frogatto and friends, pokemon, top 5
