Opinions for fabric choices for my dog. :)

I think my dog needs a sweatshirt. It's gonna get cold here soon enough. So I have a couple of Kwik-sew patterns for dog coats, sweatshirts, beds, etc. I'm going to make her a pullover hoodie with raglan sleeves (legs?). I'm debating making the body out of black polarfleece, and the legs & hood out of either purple polarfleece OR b&w stripey knit. ( Read more... )

I think that red would look cute on her.

But whatever you make for her, be sure to post some pictures! ;)

I'd say something not-with-white . . . while stripeys would be wonderful, dogs get *dirty* easily!! I like the hot-pink idea, me'self :D

I vote for stripes and velour. I adore velvety stuff.

Lana is a very cute puppy!

Go with polar fleece and a dark color. Easy to wash and dirt will show less. Short hair dogs like your baby will love the extra warmth. A doggy bed out of polar fleece is also a nice warm spot and once again washable! The Companion Pet Clinics chain in our area welcomes old and new blankies donated for sick pets who are stay over night. I have enough scraps I was thinking about making some polar fleece blankets in December to donate. : 0 )

mkay. polarfleece that I have in stock, I've got black & purple, and could probably get other colours.
I'd love to find a bright pink, and I think I may go look on fabric.com. Like I said, she's really good about sitting still to have her nails clipped & painted, and she looks awfully cute in bright pink. Polarfleece is also nice & easy to care for.

Thanks so much for your advice, R!

Do you have a Wal-Mart in your area? The fabric section has cheap piles of it at this time of year including some funky colors. Making alternating striped legs would be adorable if a bit time consuming if you use the purple and black together. Oh, what we do for our fur babies! Samantha just got a brand new cat climber. :0 )

hee. I may just have enough of the black and purple to do that!

Now I'm thinking, black body, purple hood, possibly with black 'ears', and black & purple stripey legs.

rar.

You rock, , R!
