[Jetfire apparently figured out the video-function of the journal very quickly, because that's what pops up; a view of someone white, obviously very large, and metal. As soon as he starts to speak, however, it's clear, for those of you who speak English, that he's not speaking that (or any other langauge mostly anyone here would recognize), so have

...who...is rather over her head. Bryn's smart but this is definitely out of her league.]
Ah, I'm afraid I haven't heard of anyone named Starscream but...you're not the first robot that's come here and spoken of a size change. I think that some who arrive here are...well, altered. So they can fit inside.
[It's just a theory.]

And even if she didn't understand anything of that, she is addressing some other things that are pretty important.]
Thank you. I hope he's, ah... present, anyway. [Jetfire pauses, and briefly looks away before he looks back, a small smile on his lips.] Believe me, you'll, mmmm... probably hear him before you see him. His voice is pretty... loud.
[Is Jetfire teasing Starscream when he's not present? Indeed he is. He does sober up after that, however, and frowns.]
Fit inside...? Oh. I assume the buildings are all made for beings of a shorter stature than your regular Cybertronian, then?
[While that makes - in a way - sense, it doesn't answer how it's done.]

[Bryn smiles at Jetfire, a small thing that hints that she's caught he's teasing, though her tone seems quite solemn.]
But yes, I believe the Keep was made for humans, mainly. Most of us here are human in appearance, mainly, though not everyone of course.
[She pauses a beat.]
I'm Bryn, by the way. I don't believe we've met...
[It's a strange thing to say to someone who's just arrived, but then again, the last Cybertronian who arrived claimed to have known her from a boat. Bryn couldn't assume anything...]

[She gets a very small smile in return, before he considers what she says next.]
Humans, hm? I would assume they mostly are natives of Earth, even across different universes? [This is more so he knows that's the humans thought about here. Not that he actually had time to see any except in passing after being defrosted.]
No, I don't believe we have. I haven't actually talked to any humans before this, even if I've spent quite a lot of time on Earth. Indisposed as it were. [Jetfire murmurs and shrugs, here. Thinking on what happened isn't the most pleasant, and he's mroe than once considered either erasing the direct experience, or encrypting it, but has done nothing as of yet.]
My designation's Jetfire.

[He might notice the obvious relief on her face that he agrees that they haven't met. It's still somewhat unsettling to know that Ironhide knew her from another time and place. At times Bryn wondered who this other version of her was, but the thought of hearing about the other her was, quite frankly, disturbing.]
I would say it's safe to say your theories may be correct. Many of us are from Earth, though not all of us.
Would you mind if I asked what parts of Earth you're familiar with?
Reply
Ah, I don't think that'll be a problem as such, truly.
[He'll not elaborate, since he's, really, already said enough, but he's certainly used to... disagreeable people. People like Starscream. And he calls that one his friend.]
... I really didn't spend much time active on Earth. I was frozen for several million years, and only recently freed from that. I believe the Autobots had their ships in a human nation called United States of America? I was mostly dealing with a situation after I got out of the ice.
[Jetfire's voice has dropped to a murmur, and he's looking away as he speaks, before he looks back with a small shake of his helm at the end.]

[She covers her mouth with the tips of her fingers, eyes wide in surprise. Bryn can't even fathom what it would be like to be frozen for so long, and while she's very curious as to whether he was awake the whole time, or what it was like, it seems far too rude to ask questions of someone she's only just met.]
This all must be such a shock to you. Do you have any questions? I've been here...well, some months now. I might be able to help you get a better grasp of where you are and how things work.

Well, it certainly wasn't pleasant, but at least I have some practice coming online in a place I don't recognize... even if the last one was a Cybertronian ship, instead of an inadequately defined place claiming to have survied the destruction of everything else. [Jetfire's voice is dry as he speaks, the earlier depression not so much gone as put away for now. You didn't just get over something like that, after all.]
I'm not exactly sure what to... aah, well. What is expected of us? [That seems like useful to ask as well as... the view suddenly, and briefly, change theupper part of Jetfire's frame to show a thigh. A thigh which have the Keep tattoo circling it.]
You wouldn't know what this is? [Jetfire doesn't look annoyed so much as vaguely concerned; it's not hidden (since he's hardly wearing clothes ( ... )

[She shrugged once and pursed her lips together in a firm line. Unfortunately, Bryn didn't know much more about Lord Deior's wishes beyond that.]
And...we all have those markings. They're tattoos on those of us with skin. Each guest has one but I don't know what they do. What they're for.
[Bryn briefly pulled the neckline of her chemise to the side to show a ring over her heart.]
You see, they're in different locations on everyone as well.

[While those are simple edicts, indeed, Jetfire isn't naïve enough to think all present are peaceful and accepting of the situation, and also not in possession of something to make their displeasure noticed. This means there must be ways for this Lord Deior to... control them, or another means of making upsetting things undesireable for those here.]
[When Bryn explained the markings, Jetfire nodded with a frown.]
I see. It seems arbitrary to not explain this thing when quite a few other things are. In any case... Thank you.

But...you should know if the expectations aren't upheld, there are...repercussions.
People who have damaged the keep or hurt each other are punished. Physically. So far we have had a trial by combat, people put in the stocks and lashed, beaten, and...and one man was put in a sort of torture device for half a day.
[She swallows, looking extremely uncomfortable.]
And if you don't update your record often enough the words come off of the pages and onto you and...well, I don't know what happens if you don't fix it by using your record, if the words remain, but I don't want to know from experience either.
Reply
I see. How's that even--- [Jetfire sighed and dragged a hand down over his faceplates, the hand pausing to cover the lower half of his face as he frowned.] I suppose protesting such punishments would engender another punishment... for the one who protested?
[Jetfire was now rather disturbed; this wasn't something he'd ever had to deal with since leaving the Decepticons, as Megatron, as Starscream was fond of mentioning, conditioned, punished and even rewarded with pain in various ways and contexts.
It had been one of the reasons he'd left. Not the most overbearing or anything, but one of them.]

Protesting verbally does nothing, but it isn't punished either. These are the rules of Lord Deior's Keep.
[And for a group such as them, with so many talents and abilities, he has the power to see his rules and punishments are followed through to the letter.]

[War was one thing... but torture?]
They can counter whatever is used against them, then? So it doesn't matter what is used?

[She pauses, and then sighs, shaking her head.]
I simply don't know what might work. It would have to take something extraordinary, I imagine.
