[After helping Ironhide, Jetfire had went to get his journal. He'd merely intended to ask a question... But since he'd attempted to challenge himself again when it came to the absolutely dreadful weather, the image that pops up is simply of Jetfire standing at one of the entrances to the barracks, staring out at the snow, for several minutes.]I... If this is anything like back home it could last months.

Months..?

I... well. Thank you.

[He sighs, and while he might have meant to simply drag a hand down his faceplates, the hand sort of gets stuck partway, hiding part of his face instead.]

Well, at least I'm... better prepared.

[And while he does straighten up, "better prepared" is very far from what Jetfire looks like he is,]

Think of it this way. Spring'll be here eventually.

I... will have to keep that in mind, but, truly, "eventually" isn't as soothing when you've been buried under tons of snow for...

[There's a pause. How long had it been? His internal chronometer's still okay, mostly, anyway, but he can piece together a pretty long chunk of time. If that's the whole of it, however, he's not sure... and there's the noise of shifting metal as Jetfire shifts in his stance, one hand fisting slowly. They live for a long time, but being frozen for all that time... is still not insignificant.]

For... Mmmh... At least several hundred thousand years, as counted by Earth time.

Lucky you, it's not going to snow for several hundred thousand years. i think you'll be fine. Just don't go outside.

I don't think that whether or not it would snow for that amount of time matters for the... unsettled feelings the weather creates. But you are correct.

[He's just... not comfortable with this. It had seemed perfectly fine, and to find out it wasn't... Also, staying inside for an unknown amount of time? Considering Starscream was about? Might just not be possible.]

It's best to just get used to it. I don't like the snow much, either. It made my job back home a nightmare.

[Ah, well. That "getting used to it" part would obviously be the problem here.]

... Oh? The... cold interfering... Or hard to move around?

[Something else to concentrate on, even if it was stil connected to all this.]

Too much snow made it hard to move and made conditions more dangerous. And then there is always an increase in injury and illness, so that's more work for me right there.

[There's a brief, distracted nod as those words just bring up his earlier problems, but after a few moments Jetfire tilts his helm.]

And what were you working with?

abstinentzombie December 12 2011, 01:56:36 UTC
People? I'm a doctor. I treat people.

[And hunt zombies.]

Interesting. Humans have... several branches of medicine, right? Which do you specialize in?

[Animated dead can't exist! Sigh, there's so many things that just seem determined to exist despite being impossible in Jetfire's knowledge.]

[The best part is that her zombies aren't totally dead. |D]

I diagnose, treat, and prevent injury and illness.

[She'd been introduced to a lot of different things, given the manner of how her post-apocalyptic society functioned. And she was technically still learning, as were the majority of the doctors, but whatever.]

But I avoid treating children or performing surgery.

[She hopes that answers his question. It's weird having to explain what she does to outsiders, as most of the doctors all do exactly the same things.]

I'm also a field medic, if that makes any difference to you.

[... :| How is Jetfire going to deal with this!? Well, he probably won't have to.]

Ah, why the two exceptions? [There's s light pause as he gets better acquintained with 'surgery' and cocks his helm.] Would surgery require a different education than the one you've availed yourself of?

[It does, more or less.]

Medics where I'm from would have to be automatically be capable of performing repairs of injuries in the field, as the loss of soldiers otherwise would potentially be too great.

[War for a few million years does that.]

abstinentzombie December 12 2011, 22:35:29 UTC
It does. It's a delicate procedure, depending especially on what the surgery is on, and it's extremely invasive. I'm trained in using weaponry, and my work out on the field has resulted in several hand and arm injuries. I'd be terrible at surgery, as my hands aren't as steady, and would cause more harm than good.

[There's a pause.]

And I can't stand children. Decides, they require a... different sort of care.

[Another pause.]

And most of the people I work with don't live long enough to have children.

Mmm, I see. Unfortunate; I can see it being a very useful discipline to know.

[There's a slight chuckle.]

Children... young humans. Not exactly equal to protoforms, but one does need a particular... patience, dealing with those newly onlined... or, er, brought into the world.

[This pause, and what Kloe says next has Jetfire tilting his helm, frowning slightly.]

I... assume this is different from the normal, but rather short, human lifespan?

[Since if the majority didn't live to have children, they'd soon die out.]
