I'm so happy for you and proud!

So, what's your new mailing address? Did Alex go too? He doesn't really strike me as a farm kind of guy.

Is this the place you visited before? How do you know these folks? Working for them, or part of the family?

I just got a hinny foal! I'm hoping to get her here next week (she's about 100 miles away and isn't trailer-broke, so it will be interesting).

It really does feed the soul, doesn't it?

Are you at the same email address? I'll email and let you know where I am.

I'm back at the farm I was staying at last time, but this time I'm here to save for my surgery and buy a few things for myself.

Alex is still in Christchurch, that was a hard split, but I needed to come over here, for my sanity, finances and general wellbeing.

Yay for a foal! Do you have her with you yet? We're still waiting to get the two horses over.

It does feed the soul, like nothing else. I totally cracked up at your post about the hens laying in the loft. Currently I'm crawling under the chickenhouse every day to retrieve eggs. Yay!

She arrives Tuesday night (she's 100 miles away). Same email, the ladycelia one. I'm about to go check on birds now--need to set everyone up for the day before I get ready for work.

Paupong. That's near Jindabyne, isn't it? I'm at the other end of the Snowy River. Congratulations on the move!

OMG HOLY CRAP. SOMEONE KNOWS WHERE PAUPONG IS. Even most people in Cooma and Jindabyne have no idea. Where abouts are you?

I'm in Orbost. Pretty rural, but not as rural at Paupong!

I'm working to save for my top surgery, living at the high country farm I was at a couple of years ago. I'm going on a course to become qualified at making straw-bale houses! I'm so excited!

Sounds fantastic (well, apart from Aus wildlife attempting to kill you, that is)! I was actually thinking about your move the other day and wondering how it was coming along. Did you have any trouble taking Cilla with you? (I've been watching lots of Border Patrol, but can't remember seeing anybody taking their pets.)

It was pretty straightforward taking her with me - I just had to get her certified etc by a vet (hellishly expensive) and then got a pet transport service to take care of all the papers. I felt bad for her, but the cages they travel in are really big.

Dude!! You did it!! You're a farm boy full time now!!!

Even the trees are trying to kill you! That is SO COOL!!

Can't wait for the pictures. How many people live on the farm? Do you partially own it, or are you working for someone else, or what? How do you spend your days? Looking forward to more farmboy stories!

The best part is I've put on two inches across my shoulders and an inch around each bicep in the six weeks I've been here!

There are three of us here - Psalm and K own it, Kate works in the city during the week and Psalm and I do the Farm Stuff. Psalm is trans, and K is a lesbian...everyone thinks we're a bit weird, but for a small country town they really do take us at face value, which is priceless.
I do a bit of everything. It's a really old farm so all the fencing etc is done old style to fit in with the existing buildings and fencing. Other than that, we do a crapload of gardening, shoring up the waterways against floods, snake prevention, sowing paddocks for stock feed, cutting firewood (yay chainsaws!) to use over winter and also to sell, doing controlled burns to make the house safe from bush fires etc. It's awesome work!
