that is so cool !!! i was wondering if u can help me out with something. I am putting together a studio at home but a photographer friend of my mom told me the space was too small, when I think it's not.
what size should the space be and stuff? and what kind of strobes you use?
Most of my stuff from before moving into the current studio (a little over a year ago) was done in my basement -- and that has less than 6 1/2 foot ceilings and is quite small. As long as you have enough room to move as far back as you need for your lenses, and enough room to set up an backdrops and lights you want to use, you can do it. Having more space certainly makes things easier, but adapting to work in cramped conditions is quite do-able.
At the studio we have a mix of lights, but I usually use Alien Bees with big softboxes. This particular shot was lit with an Opus using a snoot. When I was in the basement studio I used hotlights (500w tungsten) and then eventually build myself a giant softbox on wheels with fluorescent tubes in it to get more light with less heat.
