BBC Video have finally released "Meglos", oddly one of my favourite Doctor Who stories, and it made me realise that Season 18 is finally complete on DVD. Keeper of Traken is one of my favourites of all time - it and Logopolis were probably in my top 10 of most rewatched stories through my childhood.

It's a visually gorgeous story. The set and costume designers deserved awards.

It was in some ways a fantasy more than a SF piece, but it was an excellent one, and actually showed the culture of Traken.

Nyssa's fairy dress was totally my dream outfit for at least ten years.

It was all so delightful Klimt-esque, particularly the Melkur.

I am very sad that they never produced Johnny Byrne's follow-up, "Guardian of Prophecy", which would have seen Colin Baker and Peri visiting another planet in the Benign Union, and which would have explored the Melkurs in more depth.
