Ah, public ideals, how flimsy they but how pervasively maintained.

Mentats, in this reference, are the human calculators from Frank Herbert's Dune series. They are infinitely adept calculators and planners, but with little true will of their own. It appropriate for such a creature, for in this story there is only one, to lead a congress that forms one vertex of the triangle. Essentially, he is a tool.

It is odd. But I have found that when trying to formulate a name that sounds somewhat good rolling off the tongue, not just anything will do. The mention of Mentat here is not supposed to be a literal mentat, but an allusion or metaphor of one. If dandellion blossoms fall like snow, senators are like mentats ;)
