[The PDA clicks on when Alex rolls over onto it. For a while there's just darkness and a scraping noise as the virus gets up. Slowly. Unsteadily. The PDA is peeking over the side of his breast pocket, his lower torso and legs visible as he sits up. You can see the flap of his pocket occasionally getting in the way of the lens as he moves to look

[There's nothing new about perpetual scowlers. There's not really even anything new about someone who can track up walls and move quicker on foot than most transport vehicles can at full-tiult- Lenalee is, after all, one of those people herself. But there's still something kind of unnerving about those glassy, red-rimmed eyes. He looks... dead.

That's what gets her to start a feed. More than a desire to explain where he is, why he is, and who to hate for it, Lenalee's busy worrying about why on earth he looks like he just crawled out of a war zone. ...he doesn't seem to be in any pain, given how dedicatedly he's working on that surly attitude, but. Kanda's always been the same way. So a video feed clicks on (and she almost instantly wishes she'd gone for audio instead), revealing a young woman who likewise has a bit of that 'last-slept-when-she-was-dead' look going on.]This is Nesreca. [Kanda's closer to being a supersoldier than she is, that's for sure. She's human in all the ways that count. Gives a mild shrug, glancing off-camera again. She wouldn't call her Boots a skill, exactly, but she doesn't want to think about where she'd be if she didn't have them.]

It's less of a skill and more of a purpose, but yes, it's useful. I'd rather I don't have to use it while I'm here, however.

What difference would it make to not use them?

[This puzzles Alex who's never really bothered keeping a low profile except in regard to keeping his sister safe or if a mission required he be stealthy. The hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of property damage he alone accumulated in Manhattan is abundant evidence of this.]

It seems like it would be a good way to get supplies if anything.

...Where I come from, if I have to move that quickly, it's usually because someone's in danger or someone's dying. I don't want that to be the case here. [She tries to sound as matter-of-fact as she can, because she already knows her reasoning is something shaky that only Lavi, Kanda, or Allen might understand.]

And I know that. It's just that my turn to retrieve supplies hasn't come up yet.

[He regards Lenalee, brow furrowed. He can't comprehend why a person with power would be adverse to using it. Unless perhaps it affected her health? Still she made no mention of that. The virus shrugs then. It's perplexing, but it's not his problem. He needs to find a way back to Manhattan. Back to Dana.]

[Alex looks away then. He's used to intimidating people with just a level stare. The fact that Lenalee keeps an even look with his unblinking gaze, and stranger still, smiles unnerves the virus. It's unfamiliar, and though he knows he has power to rival the god his codename comes from, the unfamiliar frightens him.]

No. I'm going to look around and get the supplies.

[It takes a very special sort of person to intimidate Lenalee (that is to say, Secretary Leverrier, but that's a bundle of childhood trauma we won't go into at this time), and while Alex is certainly not the most welcoming-looking person, he hasn't given her a reason to feel afraid. He hasn't threatened her or anyone she loves. That's good enough, in a place like this. Still, her brows pinch together a little when he looks away. Was smiling... not the right thing to do?... She doesn't know, so she drops her own gaze as well.]

[No Lena, you're fine. This guy is the social retard. Alex is probably lucky his reputation doesn't precede him here. But when your own sister is apprehensive around you, there's a certain response one becomes used to gauging from others so kindness and smiling is as alien to the virus as he is to most people.

He gives the PDA one last lingering confused look, before making some noise of frustration and clicking it off.]
