i got a ton of great books today at obelisk, the neighborhood gay bookstore. the best part of all is they were just 99 cents each (woulda all cost me $140 if i'd ordered them online). woo hoo! this is what i got:
yeah, it was rather violent. it was funny though because you could tell that it wasn't the regular blockbuster movie crowd the way everyone gasped and groaned anytime things got violent.
i'll keep a look out for that one next time i go to the bookstore(but i am banning myself from buying any more books until i read some of the ones i bought).
the version we saw at the indie theater had that scene in it. i don't understand what's so "gritty" (as nerve.com puts it) about the scene and why they had to get rid of it to avoid an nc-17 rating. i want to see what it was replaced by. was it the male ass or the shot of the woman's hand on his crotch? why is it that the rape scene in monster is ok for an "r" rating? that was far grittier. what about all the violence in "the cooler"? i don't get it. someone enlighten me!
I haven't seen it yet, so I'm not sure what the replacement scene is either. I watched the one on nerve and thought the same thing. I bet it was her hand on his crotch. We've seen asses before. Hmm...
