'Hotlinking' is when people take an image from your site, and put it up on their own (or on a messageboard, or their online journal - whereever) using the same URL. This is bad because everytime people see that image on their site, the bytes are loaded from ME, using up my bandwidth (which is how many bytes you're allowed to use up every month).
To avoid hotlinking, one must first save the image on their own computer, and find a place to host it (say 'Photobucket'). This way, people will be able to view the image all they want without using up my personal bandwidth.
That physically can't be! Do you mean on the actual stepstepbuild site site? Because the code is not attached to any particular image, it runs over the entire site. If one image turned into the owl - they all would! :(
Please confirm this (business words) so that I may burn the code at the stake!
O Hotlink owl is funny, but having an entire site of them would bite the cake!
Nah, the owl isn't even hosted on our company's server. (Otherwise the code wouldn't work. I'm denying permission to images on the company's server, so if I put the owl there, it would also be denied and you'd see a little red 'X').
Also, the whole point was to avoid using up the company's bandwidth.

(Yes, I was sneaking around to see if anyone else was as lame as me and didn't know about the owl. I let me down.)
