As interesting as it is, AVOID PHIZ 275 LIKE THE BLOODY PLAGUE.
Honestly, take it for the teacher, not the subject matter. Ratemyprofessors.com. I haven't had that much expereince with electives since I've only done one semester of uni, but that's probably the most solid guildline to go by.
weeeeird....i didn't know general coms students were pre-regged....as far as i knew they had the same choices as the rest of us...but i guess it's because in your first year there are specific courses you have to take. honestly though, if you really want to switch into equivalents, you could likely get around the system if you spoke to sheelah. then again, any equivalents are probably scheduled at the same time, just in the opposite semester. in a way though, it's honestly kind of good. it gives you a starting point to work with, rather than just being lost in oblivion....
Sheelah was very strict about changing your course times. She said you had to have a really good excuse, and work couldn't be one of them (I'm assuming "Because I've never had class on Friday!" isn't a good one either.). Most of my courses are offered three times a week, with the exact same times for the winter sem. So I would pretty much have the exact same schedule, except different courses would be taken on different days and/or semesters. So that makes me feel better.
Thanks for all the course recommendations. They really helped. I think I'm going to take PHIZ 235 and CHEZ 208. I really wanted to take ANTZ 202, but the times that are offered are just so bad. For the fall semester, its offered only on a Saturday. A SATURDAY! And in the winter, I can't take the 245-530 because it conflicts with another class. Its also offered on Mondays from 8:30-10:15, but I have a morning class which ends at 11:30, leaving me with an 9 hour break. I don't think so.
We don't have to take all 4 gen eds in our first year, do we?
sheelah can be particular sometimes...but as you said, it wouldn't have made a huge difference anyway.
i'm glad i helped! :D and i think those'll make a lot of sense for you. and don't worry about ANTZ 202; you can always take it another time if you really want to. also no, you can take your gen eds whenever. as long as there's one in science, one in social and one in the humanities (and a fourth wherever). the reason i mentioned CHEZ 208's gen ed status is 'cause for me, it's the only way to rationalize taking a science course :)
ahhh that sucks so we can;t take the antz class together in the winter semester......I emailed the other class time for the art hostory class to you.....it;s for fall on tuesdays from 10:15-12:30....I hope you get some of this mess cleared up....and like Tam alreadys suggested to you internet classes could be your answer to solving all problems....:)
