This is misanthropically funny and, quite honestly, about as close a description of how I feel in clubs as I've ever found. Good to know other people find those places existentially

For the record, while I don't like most clubs, I have been known to have a lovely time at certain establishments. I do dress up (generally a bit stranger than the normal clientelle)...please tell me you don't think of me the way this guy thinks of all the folks he saw that night!

nah; like I said, it comes closest but its still far of the mark. What I get from the article is more of a morbid little chuckle from the abject, nigh irrational hatred for humanity that he exhibits than a 100% agreement with his sentiments.

My reaction to clubs is far less viciously disparaging. I'm more or less just confused and vaguely unsettled by the places. I guess the crowds and the noise, combined with an intensely negative self-consciousness, just makes them unwelcoming to me. You know me; big groups of people have always stressed me out. The weird thing is I've always felt pretty comfortable in Music venues, and most of those are just tiny bars with a stage put in. We've talked about your clubbing excursions frequently, and you always have fun dancing from what you've said to me so no, I don't think you fit the description this guy lays out, and despite my uneasiness I do enjoy talking about them, but Dance Clubs have always just felt when I entered them as places that were thoroughly not for me.
