apparently the passing of Prop 8 does not invalidate the existing gay marriages in California. The 18,000 same-sex couples who married between June 16, 2008 and the possible passage of Proposition 8 are still valid in the state of California and must continue to be honoured by the state. Yaay!

I wonder if my gay friend managed to get legally married. She had a ceremony some time ago, before it was legal, but I didn't hear if they went and got the paperwork done during that time span...

Oh - they're TRYING to invalidate them. No idea if it's going to actually work. That's gonna be up to the courts to decide.

I also have no idea when Prop 8 takes effect. Are they banned NOW? Or is there some small amount of time until the next legislative session starts up or somesuch?
