So this was really sad. I think it's a really honest portrayal of Jeremy's confused, conflicted headspace. Like, the little shit annoys me a lot but at the end of it all, I just feel sad for him, and how he's become this misshapen, grief-struck thing. And his behaviour, good and bad, is so clearly an outshoot of that. Add on the mind-wiping, and he's just a real damn mess.

I liked this Jeremy/Kol dynamic too. I wish we'd gotten more on the show. I think you capture SO WELL, Kol's jaded persona (that's after Elijah, the most convincing of the vampires for me - he's lived 1000 years, been violated by his family repeatedly, he's lived and really what do you do after all that except NOT take anything seriously at all?). And it plays off well against Jeremy who is all of 16 and carrying all this baggage, and still cares too much no matter how numb he gets. Ach ( ... )

Yes! Like, even if he walked away in the universe where this fic takes place, he would still care, would still mourn what his relationship with Elena used to be like (unlike Kol who acknowledges what his relationship with his family used to be like, but is over it in favor of the prestige of the Originals).

Lol. Just remind yourself that if we got more Kol on the show, they'd use him in all the wrong ways. He's already hit on Caroline. So.
