BETA SIGN-UPS
Every fic needs at least one pair of eyes to go over it before it is posted to make sure that any of us authors who have slaved over it haven't missed anything important. It does happen!!! We can look at the same sentence a hundred times and not see the spelling error in it. After all, authors are looking at the big picture. But betas have a much different job to perform and which duties they are needed for is completely up to the author. Some authors just need someone who can check grammatical/spelling errors. Some are a little unsure that they have found their characters voices/world. Some just need to know that it all makes sense!
Either way, if you're in a position to help out a potentially stressed author, step on up! It is a great feeling to know that you are reading an amazing fic before anyone else and are helping to rough out any potential edges. That being said, betas are not there to write the fic. Your job is to simply help an author with their work and perhaps give the occasional nudge or two in the right direction.
Below is the sign-up box. If you would like to sign-up as a beta, simply copy the information within it and paste it into a comment below, filling out the necessary information. You also need to understand that although this is a beta sign-up post, it is a resource for the authors and they will choose a beta themselves.
There may also be authors posting separately who are asking for a beta that meets their specific needs and if you feel that you can help out, you are encouraged to answer. We simply ask that if you only wish to beta that one fic, and the author chooses you to help, that you strike through or remove your comment from below so that any other authors know that you have been taken.
Please remember that being a beta may not be an easy job and it may be in your best interests to only take on one fic at a time. If, however, you find that you have the time to take on more than one, feel free to leave your comment below.
