2008 Reading/Watching Report
First of all, HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone!
My 2009 is not so great so far, because I woke up with a terrible headache/achiness which I attribute to a sinus infection. After Advil, lots of caffeine, a hot shower and food, I feel much better, but not what you'd call well.
For the first time ever, I kept lists this year of the books I read and movies I watched. I know I probably missed some, but here are the numbers as I recorded them:
Books read: 106
Books read for the first time: 42
Rereads: 62
Not sure: 2
Fiction: 88
Nonfiction: 18
Best new book read: probably Dreams From My Father by Barack Obama
Movies watched: 122
In theaters: 2
For the first time: 71
Re-watches: 49
Best new (to me) movie watched: a very hard choice, but I'll say The Little Shop Around the Corner
TV season DVDs watched: 12 (3 shows)
For the first time: 10
Re-watches: 2
Best new (to me) show watched: The West Wing (sorry, Avatar)
Plays seen in theaters: 8
Best production: *squirms* Fiddler on the Roof, Utah Shakespeare Festival
I'm sure this is the first year that I've ever watched more movies than I read books. Thanks, Netflix, TCM and TiVo!
I also attended one musical concert (Bruce Springsteen!), two political rallies (Obama and Obama), and - I think - one baseball game (Astros-Mets) and one football game (Texas Bowl).
