I came to LJ just to see if this was here. What a wonderful tribute! One of the best things any of us can hope for, I think, is to be described and remembered this well, with such meticulous love and care. The death of a pet always makes me think about all of our deaths, and how we choose to live when it's almost time to go.
Thank you, Oliver. I would wish to have a death like hers, though I don't know how much pain she might have been hiding. It just made her more loving, though.
This is just beautiful. One of my cats is 15 this year, and while he still has some life in him I know the time can't be too far off. It's hard to watch them get old. All we can do is love them (and give them cardboard boxes and catnip). From one cat lady to another, thank you for this. What a wonderful life she had. RIP Thomasina.
Shoot. I just wrote a long comment to thank you for this lovely, thoughtful post, and for sharing Thomasina's life with us. But I forgot to sign in (on my mobile phone) so if you see an anonymous comment, that's me...Such a beautiful tribute. RIP Thomasina.

I hope your kitty has years of good times left and a gentle end when his time comes.
