So, I just realized, that scene where I have Maedhros cleaning his sword, get pissed off, drop the cleaning rag, and chop off someone's head? MAEHDROS ONLY HAS ONE HAND. That's not going to work out.

Damn. Now I need to figure out something else for him to be idly doing, one-handedly, that involves him holding his sword. With his only hand. Hmmm.

Maybe sharpening it? I don't know anything about how you actually sharpen swords, but it looks like it's just being held in place with the second hand, and that might be able to be done with a missing hand...

Well, one-handed people have to clean their swords, don't they? He'll probably have all sorts of cunning gadgets he carries round with him. He'll have a block of oiled cloth that he puts on the ground and then he'll sit next to it rubbing it with his sword. Bingo, blade polished.
