I'm going to come out and admit that right now, I'm trying to achieve something in the realm of original fiction (!), so I'm somewhat out of the fanfic groove at the moment. However, I'm still willing to be inspired.

I write movieverse fic. My hard-to-write characters are any of the Brotherhood of [Evil] Mutants, i.e. Magneto, Mystique, Toad, and Sabretooth. (I loathe Pyro, so don't ask.)

Magneto appeared once, from a distance, in one of my stories--and that's it. I just don't relate to the villains. But I'm willing to try my hand at any of them, assuming someone's suggestion can spark an idea.

Hi all. I'm in the same boat as Jordanna. Attempting to write something in the realm of original fiction and it's hard!

I write movieverse and my hard-to-write characters are Logan and Magneto. Quite a pair huh? I just have no idea of how to write Logan or what to write about him. I'm not one of those people who has him having a romantic relationship with Rogue so, when I do write him, it's in very brief conversations.

Magneto has so many possibilites but with him, I think I don't write him because he freaks me out and I don't really want to delve into someone that twisted.

Good idea! Don't know yet if I'll participate, but maybe I can give you some pointers on the Magneto thing. I've never written him myself but still I think he's an interesting character.

An interesting aspect of Magneto's character is his bitterness, the injustice that has been done to him troughout his life. He lost his faith in humankind when he was just a kid, when his parents were murdered by the nazi's. He also lost his wife (Magda) his kids Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch aren't very happy with him either. He lost his best friend Charles because they had different values and opinions. He's a very lonely man who turned evil because of his tragic past. He's not just evil because he wants to be.
All in all an interesting character to write about I think.

Yes, Magneto could be interesting to read about. He's a villian but as Wolvster points out there were events in his life that caused his transformation and could be explored. As well, it could be interesting to read about the time when him and Professor Xavier became friends. And although it happens much later, at some point he is rejuvenated and reformed into a good force. Reading about him as "good guy" could be interesting too.

Hmmmm.... my hard to write characters.
That would have to be Todd in any verse. He just has never made any sense to me whatsoever.
Suggestions, anyone?
