So, I was never a big fan of "The Office" until recently. Thanks to YouTube I found some of my favorite clips and figured that you all might get a chuckle as well ( Read more... )

I'm so glad you found the Office! It's brilliant and I love every character in their own special way. The British Office is brilliant as well, the US one has a much different flavor to it. New season in less than a month!!

I'm just not an Office fan. Which is kinda odd, because I usually love what my HP-friends recommend (Love Actually, for example).

That being said... When did you change your name? :P

You need to get into the British version of The Office. It's sooooo much better. Honestly, I don't like the US version at all. Some of it's ok, but mostly I find it fairly... unintelligent. But some of it's alright. Still, the British version is amazing. I have the whole series on DVD, so you should come out here and watch it. (See what I did there? see? I turned the issue into another reason why you should come out to RI. Goddamn, I'm awesome!)

The British version is more subtle humor. There are a billion raging debates about which one is better, seems like those people that adore the Brit version abhor the American one, for the most part. I love them both. The American version may be less intelligent but is still 99% better than the rest of the shit comedies on TV.

Yeah, Lonnie...er, Justin?

I just tend to appreciate British humor more in general. I feel like it's much more intelligent all-around. I feel like the American television humor (and drama and action and reality shows and children's shows, for that matter.) is very obvious and almost insulting in its simplicity.

And just so it doesn't seem like I'm hating it for the sake of it, I actually saw the US version BEFORE I saw the UK version. So I'm not just hating on the US version for the hell of it or out of blind loyalty. I just don't like it. It most likely is better than 99% of the rest of the US comedies, but that doesn't say TOO much. lol I think I'm just disenchanted with American television.

I will say, though, that I think Dwight is one of the better characters on US tv right now. That actor does a great job with it, too.

Yes, you are right, most American TV is insulting in it's stupidity--don't even get me started with kid's shows. I watched "Go, Diego, Go" the other day with Camille and had to turn it off. He was literally shouting the entire time.

Did I tell you I bought both seasons of Extras (you're the one that turned me onto it), and looooooove it. Ricky and Stephen are geniuses and play off each other perfectly. Is it still on, do you know? When does the next season start?

Sorry, Lonnie, for hijacking your lj!
