Children by the million scream for Davy Crockett coonskin caps Alex Chilton when he comes round.
I'm in love, what's that song? I'm in love, with that song!

Just to say ... the death of Alex Chilton saddens me much more than the death of Fess Parker. And I'd much rather hear the Replacements played over and over again on the radio than that stupid ( Read more... )

Ah but those of us of a certain age don't know who Alex Chilton is even with what I can only assume are the clues in your posting. On the other had we can sing the entire Davy Crockett song and refused to take off out coonskin caps even to sleep much to the distress of our mother who was sure it would sufficate us. LOL

I understand. It's us tailend babyboomers & Gen Xers(people of a certain other age) who would get the Replacements reference.

I have to admit, I never heard of him either...if you sang one of the songs I might recognize it.

Well, the funny thing is I don't think I've ever actually heard any Alex Chilton songs. But I love the Replacements song about him that I quoted in the previous message. It's from their 1987 album "Hello, Pleased to meet me." It's a very zippy boppy singalongable song. Meesh says its included in a Wii Rock Band game that she plays and is one of the more challenging songs to play.
