Indie hits of the '80s

So I went out after work last evening and bought myself a cheap cassette tape player (who knew they still even made such things?) so I could indulge in an evening of 80s-early 90s indie and post-punk music. I have to admit, I've never heard of Alex Chilton, but am sorry for your happy childhood memory being tainted.

My happy childhood memory being tainted? Do you mean the sound quality of my Fables of the Reconstruction (REM, 198?) tape being degraded? If so, how sweet of you to think that tape is related to any childhood memories of mine! You must be confusing me with Meeshie!

(The reference to children in the Alex Chilton post is part of the lyrics of the chorus of "Alex Chilton" by the Replacements.)

It was okay. Nothing is really a great time for me these days - I'm too anxious all the time. But it was probably at least good to be pretending to have a good time.
