actually I wasn't in front of the TV...can't watch the returns if you can't get a signal.

I was doing dishes, and I knew they had called for Obama when the cheers erupted from next door...

I'll have you know my mother watched THREE HOURS of TV last night. An Historic Evening Indeed.

I think my favorite was her response to seeing Katie Couric for the first time: "She has no chin, poor woman, but a glint in her eye and I can certainly see how she could give Sarah Palin what for."

Have you seen the highlights from the Newsweek Story for next week? The First Shots of The Trashing of Palin have been fired:
The relevant part starts on the second half of page one.

Who remembers where they were when JFK was elected? uilliam November 5 2008, 18:32:17 UTC
I was in front of a television!
I was sitting on my bed, in front of my television, playing Fallout 3. My computer was turned on, but inactive. My housemate came home, saw me in front of tv and computer, and said "ah, i should have known you'd be at your command center" and then proceeded to make several comments based on the assumption that I had been frantically watching the news. I asked him just what the hell he was talking about, and he said that we have a new president. "Obama?" "Yup."

I, too, was flipping between NBC and Comedy Central. I was on Comedy Central when they announced. I thought it was a gag at first and flipped away to confirm :-)

We mostly watched Katie Couric, but that's because we don't have cable and can't watch Comedy Central.

At around 9:30, we were alerted to the fact that the Fox news anchors were on the verge of crying, and flipped between the two to see if tears would flow.

Sadly, no. There was much brow-furrowing and frowny faces, but they managed to hold their composure in the face of Armageddon.

By the way, Armageddon is totally here for Fox News, and Shep Smith is the one with the buryin' hatchet.

I spent most of the evening watching MSNBC. I had JUST flipped over to the Daily Show about 5 minutes before it was called. I seriously thought they were joking, even though Jon Stewart looked like he was about to start crying right then and there.

So I sat there for a minute, stunned, and just as I was reaching for the remote to switch to another channel, my phone started blowing up and I knew it was real.

And then I cried. The end.

Did you catch that Colbert started crying? His eyes got seriously glisten-y and then he took off his glasses and busied himself with his props until he gained his composure back. But he totally lost it for a second.
