Chapter 3 ~More of the past/ moving towards truth~

Yui woke up in a start. She looked around. Yamada came towards her; worried.

“Do you feel better?” Yamada asked kindly.

Yui looked at Yamada and hugged him. Her eyes were filled with tears.

“Yui?” Yamada called softly as he stroked her hair.

“I saw that dream again….It is so real, like it happening again. When that officer held that gun in front of you, I thought I would lose you.” Yui cried.

“Yui, you have to stop worrying so much.” Yamada said pulling her.

“But, he could have….” Yui gulped.

Yamada cupped her face and touched her fore head with his.

“Yui, it’s going to be fine. You have a fever, maybe you should sleep for a while.” Yamada said kindly.

“I don’ want to sleep. I don’t want to……” Yui muttered; her face was flushed from her fever.

Yamada sighed; he had no choice. He removed a syringe and injected Yui with the sleeping drug. Yui fell asleep within minutes. Yamada laid Yui to sleep and kissed her forehead. After tucking a blanket on her, Yamada walked to the balcony. He looked at the starry sky. Yui became insecure and scared after the attempted rape.

~The past after the attempted rape~

“What do you mean you won’t take Yui in? It is your fault that all this happened!” Yamada yelled at the science teacher.

“Because of her stubbornness, our University lost an important funder. We decided to remove you from your post, because you interfered.” The science teacher replied smugly.

“I don’t care what you do to me! Keep her out of this.” Yamada replied.

“I rather throw her out than be on Hamada’s wrong side!” The teacher replied.

“Then that Hamada will suffer!” Yamada replied and stormed out.

Yamada took Yui in after the rape attempt. Her family suddenly rejected her. She started to lose confidence. The press was also spreading wrong rumors about her. Poor girl, she was terribly traumatized. How could they ruin such an innocent girl’s life? Yamada clenched his hand. He entered his house, when he heard the sound of water from the bathroom.

“Oh crap, don’t tell me!” Yamada rushed to the bathroom and banged the door open.

The door burst open and just as he thought, Yui had cut her wrist. Her hand was immersed in the bath tub, where the water was blood red.

“Yui!!” Yamada screamed and quickly pulled her hand out of the water and tied his handkerchief around it.

“Yui, hold on, don’t give up on me!” Yamada cried as he called the doctor.

~In a hospital~

“It is the loss of blood. She will be fine.”  The doctor said with a smile.

Yamada placed his hand on her forehead and let out a sigh of relief. The doctor smiled and left.

“Yui, why did you have to do something so cruel?” Yamada whispered as he stroked her forehead.

“It maybe because of the news. They made a lot of lies about the poor girl. I want to help you both because I am sure Hamada has some role in this lie. I am very sure she is innocent.” A voice replied.

Yamada turned to face a middle aged man.

“Who are you?” Yamada asked.

“Okamoto Kenichi.” Kenichi said with a smile.

~End of past for now~

Yamada snapped away from his memories. Yui had attempted to kill herself many times, but that time she had almost killed herself. She felt that she was burdening him. How he had wished to tell her the truth. He always wanted to tell her about his feelings for her. It had been difficult to get Yui to the Yui today. He started into the dark night.

“Yui….I will avenge what they did to you. Okamoto Kenichi-san, Even if your son has no idea what really happened to you, I will avenge your death too.” Yamada replied gritting his teeth.

~In the police hospital room~

“Where am I?” Keito muttered, scratching his head.

“In the hospital room, Yamada had used acupuncture on you.” The superintendent replied.

“Oh, why did he not kill me?” Keito asked confused.

“Maybe to make you think that he is good.” The superintendent replied.

“He did the same to his assistant.” Keito replied.

“I would not trust him if I were you. Now this happened, but don’t let something similar to this happen to you again!” The superintendent replied.

“I want to ask you something sir.” Keito replied.

“What is it?” The superintendent asked.

“How did my father die?” Keito asked.

“In a case. Why do you ask? I thought all this was clear!” The superintendent replied haughtily and left the room.

Keito sighed and looked at the ceiling.

“I wonder how your father really died.”

Yamada had said that seriously in his ears before putting him to sleep. Why did Yamada not kill him when he had the chance?

~In Yuto’s room~

Yuto looked through the website. Many people were glad that Hamada died. Yuto smirked. Yamada had taken on the case. Unlike other assassin bosses, Yamada took part in the killing. This all would stop after the real perpetrator of Yamada and Yui’s past plus the killer of Okamoto Kenichi was dead. Yuto looked through the website, when he heard someone in his room.

“I know you are here to avenge Hamada.” Yuto said looking at the gangsters who broke into his house.

The gangsters began to attack him. Yuto dodged their attacks. He bent when one of the launched a punch to his face. In that position he head hit the guy in the stomach. The man staggered and Yuto then kicked the next man in between his legs. Both men were doubling in pain, when the third gangster stabbed Yuto in the back.  Yuto looked at him cold heartedly and held the man by his neck and threw him out of the window. The other two men ran out of the place in fear.

“Yuto-kun!!!!” Shida cried out and ran to him.

“I am fine. I feel no pain.” Yuto replied.

“Still let me treat that!” Shida replied in tears.

Yuto nodded and on her insistence let her treat his wound. After tying a bandage on his back, Yuto pulled Shida closer to him.

“Yuto-kun?” Shida replied shyly.

“Don’t  tell Yui or Ryosuke about this!” Yuto muttered in her ear.

Shida nodded; she was worried about Yuto.

~In the company~

Yamada silently rotated in his chair. He was a lot high. He was worried about Yui. Yui, despite her illness, decided to continue work. She was trying to just get things worse now.

“Yamada-sensei, there is someone to visit you.” The voice on the phone replied.

“Send them in.” Yamada replied.

Keito entered the room. Yamada continued to twirl in the chair.

“Oh, so you found your way out of the parking lot?” Yamada asked amused.

“Why did you not kill me?” Keito asked.

“Why should I do that?” Yamada asked laughing.

“Because both you and I know that I know a lot of facts about your aim.” Keito replied.

“I have no idea where this is going but it’s amusing.” Yamada replied laughing.

“I know you are pretending to be insane!” Keito replied.

Yamada looked up. His eyes were piercing sharp.

“What happened to my father?” Keito asked.

“I think you should know!” Yamada replied sighing.

“That’s why I am asking you!” Keito replied.

“I don’t think this is the right time to tell you!” Yamada replied in a sing-song tone and left the room.

Keito gritted his teeth in anger. The scientist was getting on his nerves. He walked angrily, when he noticed Yui walking down the hallway.

“Tomizawa-san?” Keito called out.

Yui turned and looked at him.

“You look pale.” Keito replied.

“I guess. What are you doing here officer?” Yui asked.

“Call me Keito.” Keito replied with a smile.

“I need to…” Yui could not continue and fainted.

Keito picked her up. Her body was hot, she had a fever. Keito took her to the company’s medical room. After a few minutes Yamada entered the room. He was surprised on seeing Keito with Yui. He sighed and walked up to Yui.

“Thank you for helping her!” Yamada said and sat on a chair.

“I would like it if you told me about my father!” Keito replied.

“I will, but now is not the right time!” Yamada replied.

Keito bowed and left the room annoyed. Yamada looked at Yui. He took her hand in his and held it on his cheek. Her hand was extremely warm. She was severely ill.

“Yui….” Yamada muttered and kissed her forehead.

~Outside the hospital room~

Keito remembered the scene he had seen. The scientist was very caring towards Yui. Yui had feelings for the scientist. He had seen that in the night of Hamada’s murder. He was also confused by his superior’s behavior when he asked about his father.

“Dad, whom should I trust?” Keito mumbled.

“If I were you, I would trust Yamada-sensei.” A voice replied.

Keito turned to face Nakajima Yuto. Keito recognized him; He was the son of the Nakajima’s. The detective couple who had been murdered the same way his father had died.

“Nakajima-kun, why are you working here?” Keito asked.

“Because, Ryosuke is the only one who understands what I am going through. If I were you, I would trust Yamada-sensei.” Yuto replied and walked away.

Keito looked dumbfounded. Despite his killing scheme, Yamada was respected a lot by his workers and colleagues.

“What is the real you?” Keito asked confused.

~In the hospital room~

Yamada stroked Yui’s forehead. Yui was dreadfully ill.

“Ryosuke, we have found him.” Yuto replied.

Yuto showed Ryosuke a paper.

“So that shameless man is running a lab? Yuto and Shida….Bring this man to my lair. I have to teach him a lesson.” Yamada smirked.
