It's an astonishingly bad idea. If they even attempt to keep anything of the feel of the original they'll fall flat on their faces. If they don't, they'll end up with just another modern horror movie with too much in the way of CGI and too little in the way of originality or intelligence.

They already remade it as THE BRIDE back in the 1980s. No point in complaining about remakes of remakes, and Universal has finally realized that they're sitting on a potential tenth gold mine with their classic monsters, despite the astonishingly awful VAN HELSING. At least they're not sequelizing that...

On an unrelated note, I just read An American Werewolf in London is being remade...and there is an option to remake Hellraiser too. It's sad when people have no new ideas and have to massacre classicly well-done films.

Exactly. I read one or two horror novels a week, and many of them would make fine films. So there are plenty of ideas out there, just none that penetrate the Hollywood mindset and its name-branding.
