I think Vintage Vinyls have newsletters. Spin is a good magazine to utilize. And any newspaper with an entertainment section, really. A good place to look would be any alternative publication. Lots of punk bands get their names out on the local scene through alt publications, and I don't think the editors/readers would balk if you're a small-time label (good side to not being a BMG but more of a Fat Wreck).
I would have information and demos sent to college radios - particularly SOU, LaSalle (great online feed), and Rutgers but even Drew - college radio has a thing where people have to play a certain number of songs in their libraries.

Pitchfork is an indie music magazine. I don't know how cutting edge they are anymore.
