C.S. Lewis, in his essay on Science Fiction, writes that you cannot adequately critique something unless you like it. Only a fan of a genre can distinguish the strong from the weak examples of that genre. I read someone's review where they were excited that he is a superhero and gets to save a damsel in distress (!!!) and immediately lost all interest in this movie.

YMMV, but there it is.

I mean, I think they were being very cautious with this movie. S the plot is extremely standard and straightforward. But that is so they can do the Deadpool stuff on top of it I guess?

For what it's worth, the Damsel in Distress is the one who ends up taking down the villain, and as for getting to be a hero, Colossus kinda makes a speech about it...which Deadpool ignores. So *shrug.*

As I said, I think it does the Deadpool schtick very well, if you're into that kind of puerile humor, which I am not. But as you say, YMMV

I am not a fan of violence for fun, or it being mixed up with sexuality (any variation). But, much as you say, Animate_Mush, I suspect to fans of such, it was a delight!
