001] got rhytm in my feet - ota

Danny was not like most other kids. He didn't wake up in the morning and dread coming in to school and going to classes and all of that mundane stuff. In fact, he actually looked forward to it. Sure, school wasn't Hollywood and he wasn't making movies or anything, but he liked hanging out with his classmates and getting to know people. He still ( Read more... )

[Odette had been walking down the hallway, her books hugged to her chest, not really paying attention when someone bumped into her. She felt her books leave her arms and she looked up in surprise. Bending down to pick them up she shook her head.] It's perfectly fine! I was lost in my own thoughts and I should have been paying attention! It takes two to watch in these hallways!

"I guess that's true," Danny said with a slight laugh as he too leaned over to help her pick up the books. He still did feel bad about what had happened, because he really should have been looking where he was going, so he apologized again as he handed her back the books he'd retrieved. "I am sorry though. My name's Danny."

[Odette smiled at him and stood up, tucking a strand of blonde hair behind her ear and taking the books from him.] Apology accepted though not needed. I'm Odette.

"Nice to meet you," he said, completely and totally sincerely. Danny loved meeting new people, no matter what the circumstances. He pointed at her school books. "Whatcha got there?"

Nice to meet you too. [Odette loved meeting new people as well. She felt you could never know too many people. She glanced down and then smiled.] Oh, it's pre cal, history, english and my copy of the Swan Princess. It's a bit on the worn out side.

"The Swan Princess? Like the ballet?" Even though Danny wasn't really into ballet (he was more into tap), it was dancing and he'd never say no to talking about that with someone.

Second period hadn't even finished yet, and Sawyer was already having a bad day. The drama teacher had given her a long list of errands to complete within the hour, and she was rushing in vain to get everything done. With a huge stack of copies in one hand and the list in the other, she hurried the down the hallway, completely focused on the task at hand instead of her surroundings. Hummed singing broke her sense of concentration, and she noticed it was coming from a person dancing near her. Then suddenly...Smack!

Copies went flying into the air as Sawyer lost her sense of balance. Before she knew it, her butt had landed on the floor. Despite the guy's apology, she glared daggers at him. "Or you should have not been dancing in the first place," she snapped. "This isn't Glee. You can't just randomly dance in the middle of the hallway!"

"Well, I am sorry, Sawyer," he said, totally honestly. He did really feel bad for knocking her over, and immediately bent down to help gather up the copies that had gone flying. He knew better then to try and argue about the benefits of dancing, at least, for the moment. She was clearly having a bad day, so he might as well try and help her out.

He couldn't help but glance at the pieces of paper quickly, but didn't read through them. After all, while he could be curious and maybe a little nosy sometimes, he wasn't going to consciously try and make her more annoyed then she already was. "What's all this stuff for, anyway?"

Sawyer resisted to roll her eyes. Danny didn't have to apologize twice. She knew Danny was sorry the first time. After all, the guy was practically an open book with that ridiculously sincere face of his. Unable to reply with some biting remark, she settled with mumbling a "thank you" as he helped her gather up the scattered papers.

"For the upcoming play," she replied in a frustrated tone. All the copies were out of order after the recent collision. "I spent all morning making copies of this script. It's going to be so much fun putting them all back in order."

"Well, let me help you!" he said immediately, beaming. "It's the least I can do, since I knocked you over and all. It'll go twice as fast."

Of course, assuming Danny didn't get totally distracted and start reading the play. Out loud. And acting out all the parts. He did have a tendency to lose focus when things like the theater were brought up. Still, he did want to help. If there was one thing Danny liked doing more then singing and dancing, it was giving people a hand when they needed it.

Porter chuckled and shook his head. "Totally cool, dude. It happens." He paused, then tilting his head to the side, asked, "Were you humming, or are my ears going weird on me?"

"Yeah, I guess I was," Danny said, still smiling in a way that would perhaps best be described as 'dopey'. He didn't even really mind if the guy was going to make fun of him for doing it or anything, because honestly? He was just happy he hadn't gotten chewed out for it. People around here didn't seem to understand what was so much fun about music.
