I'm just thrilled that it's a true competition, instead of a coronation for Plushenko while everyone else fights for silver and bronze. I wager that he won't be nearly as cocky as he's been ever since Alexei Yagudin (2002 Olympic champ and Plushenko's last serious competition) retired, especially if Takahashi and/or Lysacek put down a solid program in the long. And in the (long) past he's had a tendency to show a few chinks in his armor when he's not guaranteed a win.
Plushenko is too robotic. I nearly snoffled when Dick was going over his footwork. In slow mo, the flailing arms with little footwork is REALLY obvious. And he's so damn cocky.
But the men's competition is FIERCE. Which makes it really exciting to watch.
I love Weir for not being afraid to just be himself :)
It's been soooo long since I'm cared about figure skating since the Jamie Salé and David Pelletier thing at the Olympics were they tried to rob them. Plus then Michelle Kwan retired. I'm apparently missed a lot?
I am SO SO jealous of your CTV coverage for Jamie Salé and David Pelletier as commentators though. I'm reading that they are ace. YOU DO NOT KNOW THE PAIN OF NBC COMMENTATORS. One of them RUINED Shen and Zhao's skate by gasping in the middle of silence for me. I nearly had a damn heart attack.
