...isn't that a little judgmental? You haven't even really been around my family all that much. You've met my parents like... 4 times? And you've only met my South American relatives once. I normally wouldn't even talk to a guy like that. Not because he was black or he had dreadlocks- but because I normally don't start conversations with strangers and in a foreign country no less. I just started talking to him because it was a little refreshing talking to someone that wasn't a family member and even if he was a stranger, he seemed harmless enough. Plus, we were in a public space so I figured he wouldn't try anything. I don't even know why I'm defending my family to you- you weren't even there and you don't even know them.
I grant that my remarks would clearly be excessive and unwarranted based on this alone. I'm also basing it on their weird fascination with my Jewish background - felt very objectifying.
Ok well with that then I can see how you might think they're racist. Well, I wouldn't say my parents are racist in that they think there are superior and inferior ethnicities, but they do lack some racial awareness.
