So, January 9th I spent half a day in NY to see the Broadway production of Wicked. For those who don't know this show, it's based off a novel by Gregory Maguire. In a nutshell, see the subtitle of the novel: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West. Kind of says it all, doesn't it?

Anyway, your point about the criticism of the new/old version is this weird actress thing. I've talked with actors/actresses trying to go pro, and they are - pardon the obviousness of this sentence - complete frigging dramaqueens.
I quite literally spoke with a girl on a train once who explained to me in huge detail as to why everytime a Hollywood famous person gets an acting gig, it kills the show forever. How the first person to portray a role is the outline for all future people playing the role.
It's enough to drive you batty enough to not want to deal with theatre people. =)

Though her friend definitely even better fits the dramaqueen image.. and you know how bad my sister can be. ;)

But she's also off to make the movie version of Rent. (She is their Maureen.) Looking VERY forward to that! And her replacement in Wicked is VERY good. :)
