I really should be working on my Brit Lit paper, but I felt like jumping on LJ and ranting a little.
This semester is awful. It's been long, tedious, and I've managed to screw up on a couple of things that just was not good. So far things have been working out decently, but still... this semester has been a beating and I never ever EVER want to repeat something like this again.
I went back and read over my beginning-of-the-semester post, and my first response was a quick IM of "I am such a dumbass!" to
cyanwitch because I can't see how I could have thought this semester wouldn't be that bad back at the beginning. And I actually LIKED my AP 3300 class then! Ohoho, I know so much better now.
In other news, I've met some new friends through some of my classes, and I've learned lessons about things not to do in the future. I've got a job that's still going okay (though I wish those damn computer viruses would stop attacking me at school!), and I've managed to have pets and keep them alive (2 fish (Yuuko + Rita) that turned into 9 fish (Rita + babies) that turned into 3 (Rita + Ponyo + Rita Jr.) and then semi-recently, 2 again (Rita Jr. + Ponyo)). So things are okay. But... really just okay. I'm so glad for the summer, so glad for the reading days coming up, so glad that I'm going to be able to get out of here and go to Japan for a few weeks! (Not the month and a half that I stupidly ordered tickets for, but I wanted to go, obviously, and we're working that out. :\ )
Also, I started replaying FFXII, and I squealed like the fangirl I am when I got to Bhujerba and saw Larsa. Or "Lamont" as he called himself at first. :D I'm such a nerd. I love FFXII. I know people complain about the battle system, but it's actually one of my favorite things about it! I don't tend to levelwhore or EVER be overleveled because I'm so involved in the story that I just move from one part of the story to the next without stopping to train anywhere. But in FFXII, I got to Phon Coast and just OWNED everything there. Very fun. Chaining is a blast and I love setting up gambits so that everyone does what's needed when it's needed and I don't have to worry so much.
And lastly - before I go back to my paper that's almost done and is so going to go over the 8-10 page range (but who cares!) - I had a character pop into my head the other day. He started talking about painting pictures of things that happen, like crime scenes and stuff. All (most?) of them are death-related (suicides, murders, things like that), and he's basically cursed to paint these things. Yeah, maybe similar to Isaac from Heroes, but there's more too it. Anyway, there's another guy, a detective, and... well, you can kinda see where it's going to go from there. ^^ I dunno if there's going to be a long story for this, but the world, which I thought was really just "now" with a painter with strange abilities, is turning out to be a lot more complicated than that. For those familiar with both series, take Heroes and mesh it with Anne McCaffrey's Pegasus/Talents series (pre-Rowan, of course). I think it's sorta like that.
Anyway... I ought to get back to my paper, so I will go ahead and post this now. Whee~
Also, a shoutout to my new buddy
geekgirlofdoom who I met in class last night randomly. It took all semester (and Neil Gaiman) to get us to talk, but I think it shall be a good friendship. :D
