Today was Cory's day: Akihabara. I was under the impression that it was just an electronics district... oh god was I wrong.
Oh. My. God.
I have to go back. There was SO MUCH STUFF. It was like the dealer's room at con times 1000000000 and way cheaper! At least for some things. They had Hetalia and Ghibli stuff, even Zoids!!! They had zoiiiiiiiiiiids~~~~~ Oh god, it was heaven on earth, seriously. I've got a small shopping list for when I go back because it was really awesome, and I know I'm going back. I may pick up one of the Persona manga or something as incentive to learn more Japanese. MaybeadoujinshibutI'mnotsayingthat.Nope.Notme.
I was really excited about the Persona stuff, since it's not that big in the states right now. But you can find stuff heeeeeeeeere~~~~
Oh god, I just "kyaaaaaa"'d in my head. Erik would kill me, I think. >_> But yes, Akihabara.
We headed over to the brand new Gundam Cafe to check it out and I snapped lots of photos, but I was out-voted on whether we should stay there and wait for an hour to get in or if we should go check out a maid cafe. ...and here's where things got kinda annoying.
I'm not sure why exactly, but I was really against going to the maid cafe. I mean I ended up going and everything, and they were really freaking adorable, that's totally true, but... uhn. I don't know. It was kinda disturbing to see all the awkward guys playing games with the girls and stuff, and it probably would have been more awkward to be waited on by the girls if there hadn't been a language barrier. It still was really odd. There was also a 700 yen charge just to get in, which was kinda aggravating. And I guess I felt that the whole thing kinda fit into that "Woman, get in the kitchen and make me a sandwich!" kind of culture that really just pisses me the hell off. It was just dressed up in cute outfits and with more politeness, but it was still the same thing in the end. :\
But that's really a discussion for another time, I think.
And really that's about where today ended. After the maid cafe, we scattered about and did our own things. Sally and Cory went into a shop for something and I didn't want to climb the stairs, so I just headed back to the hotel. Amil caught up with me at one point, but when she said hi and I replied and then we said nothing, I figured that if we ended up getting "accidentally" split up, that there was no harm done. So I got through the gate and jumped on the train, and didn't wait up when I noticed that she was taking a moment longer to get through the gate. *shrugs* I don't think we get along much, so that's really no problem.
After that I got back, uploaded photos, then passed out for a short time until Sally and Cory came back and woke me up. And now I think it's time for bed or something, because it's almost 11 and I'm tired. We don't have to be anywhere until 10 tomorrow (group meeting to organize what we're talking about on our UTD presentation) and then we're meeting again at 1 to go to Yasukuni Shrine, and then over to Hosei University. Should be fun!
G'night world. This one is in need of sleep.
