Summary: All the members cringe at Leeteuk’s bad habit.
Sungmin opened his eyes blearily as he heard someone moving around and use the kitchen. He had came home after his schedule to sneak in a quick nap before dinner in hopes of not getting disturbed by the other twelve people living with him. Seeing as he had only slept for an hour and it was still well before dinner was supposed to be ready, Sungmin hugged his bunny and stormed off to the kitchen to tell off who was making such a racket. However, the sight he arrived at made his stop in his path and gasp.
Sungmin cautiously stepped into the kitchen and sat down at the mini table as he watched the leader busy himself with some unidentifiable food. Sungmin swallowed nervously and hugged his bunny tighter. If there was one bad habit of Leeteuk, it was that whenever he had something important on his mind, he would wonder over to the kitchen and start cooking, regardless of whether he could or not.
Sungmin briefly wondered if anyone else was home yet and if they noticed the chaos that was brewing in the kitchen. Hearing the various noises of screaming at the TV and random talking, he assumed that none of them noticed what their leader was doing.
“Hyung, what are you doing?” asked Sungmin, remembering the last time Leeteuk had a sudden cooking urge. It was the time where Kyuhyun was getting introduced into Super Junior and as the leader; Leeteuk was responsible of informing the other members of the new one. As a result, Leeteuk had some inner turmoil on how to tell his dongsaengs and ended up cooking inedible food.
“Oh Sungmin, you’re awake. I’m making dinner for everyone! I figured it was about time Hankyung got a break, don't you think?” Leeteuk smiled sweetly, making shivers run up Sungmin’s spine and for him to mentally call out to anyone else in the household.
Unfortunately, no one came. “O-Oh, that sounds nice. I think I’m going to get a snack to eat.” Sungmin moved towards the cupboard that was filled with chocopies and rice crackers when Leeteuk hit his hand painfully with the spatula.
“No ruining you’re appetite before dinner! Now sit back down, dinner’s almost ready. If you really get that hungry, I’ll let you try some.” Leeteuk held out the ladle full of some multicoloured soup to him.
“No thanks! I think I’ll be fine until dinner.” Sungmin waved his hands in front of him in defence.
“Hm, if you say so.”
Sungmin sat back down and hugged his bunny once more. What happened next really horrified him to make him regret even venturing to the kitchen in the first place. The phone started to ring and Leeteuk put down the ladle he was using and moved to answer it.
“H-Hyung, shouldn’t you turn the stove off first?”
“I’ll just be a moment, Sungminnie.”
Sungmin silently watched in anticipation as the soup continued to boil on the stovetop with Leeteuk’s occasional laugh floating into the kitchen. Something started to sizzle and he realised that there wasn’t just soup that was being prepared, but some sort of meat was in the oven. Everything seemed to happen at once. Black smoke started to waft from the oven and the soup had started to boil over the rim, splashing over the stovetop, causing flames to appear.
Sungmin looked around panicked, not particularly sure what to do. He bolted out of the kitchen to call for help. “HANKYUNG-HYUNG!!”
Hankyung was in the middle of a peaceful session of doing yoga when he heard Sungmin’s panicked call of distress. Hankyung opened one of his closed eyes in confusion but snapped his other eye open when he smelt the smell of charcoal burning. He jumped up and kicked his bedroom door open with force, causing it to rebound and slam into his face. He let out a pained cry and held his nose in pain. This caused Yesung and Ryeowook to poke their head out of their bedroom to see why everyone was screaming.
The pair was about to go out for a short walk before dinner when they heard the sudden commotion. Looking outside, Yesung stared at their resident chef lying on the floor with his hand on his nose, trying to crawl to the direction of the kitchen. Ryeowook looked at the direction of the kitchen, then to the injured chef, then to the suspicious smoke being emitted from the kitchen.
Just as Yesung was about to help Hankyung up, Hankyung jumped up and bolted towards the kitchen. “MY KITCHEN!!” Shrugging their shoulders, they moved over to the kitchen to see most of the dorm huddle around the entrance of the kitchen, which was shrouded in smoke.
Donghae squinted through the smoke to see two distinct figures of Sungmin and Hankyung running around, trying to put out the fire on the stove and clearing the smoke. Next to him, Kibum ran all over the dorm with Shindong and Kyuhyun, trying to open all the windows as fast as they could. Once the smoke had cleared and the fire was out, Heechul surveyed the damaged kitchen.
“Ya!!! Who the hell did this?!” Heechul snapped his head around and glared at the other members accusingly. Just as he was about to yell again, Leeteuk had hung up the phone and waltzed over to the group. By then, the smoke had cleared and the kitchen had looked normal, besides the new ash covered walls.
“That was manager-hyung, he said that we could have tomorrow off. Oh, is the food ready?” Leeteuk picked up the ladle that he had set down earlier and tried the soup that had miraculously stayed a decent volume. “Mm! Tastes about ready! Everyone! Set the table! Dinner’s ready!” Leeteuk smiled sweetly as he busied himself with taking out the charcoal meat from the oven.
Everyone turned and glared at Kangin who had just come home from his schedule. “What did you do to him?” Heechul yelled as he pointed at the leader and the disaster kitchen.
“W-What? I didn’t do anything! Why do you thing I did something? I wasn’t even home!!” Kangin screamed back at the feminine boy.
Just as Heechul was about to retaliate, Leeteuk came out of the kitchen. “Oh Kangin-ah, you’re home! You’re just in time for dinner that I just finished making!” Seeing that everyone was still frozen in shock and fear of dinner, Leeteuk glared at them all. “Go set the table and wash your hands!”
Ten minutes later, everyone was settled around the dining table with bowls of murky liquid as soup and slices of rock that was supposed to be meat. When Kyuhyun bought out the bucket of rice, Eunhyuk cried in relief.
“Rice! I’ve never been so happy to see thee!” Leeteuk sent him a suspicious glance. “Ahem, I mean to say, a meal is never complete without rice.”
Everyone remained silent as Leeteuk pondered over the sad excuse before smiling brightly again. “Why yes Eunhyuk, you’re absolutely right! Now it’s time to eat! What do you all think?”
Leeteuk smiled in anticipation as he watched the other members wearily take cautious bites of the meat and slurps of the soup. Most of them gagged and coughed on the soup, which made Leeteuk frown. He then turned to Siwon, knowing that he would be a gentleman about his cooking. “Siwon-ah, what do you think?”
Siwon saw the other members reactions and gulped before taking a sip. He was actually quite proud on how stoic his facial expressions were and mentally thanked his acting abilities. In truth, the soup didn’t feel like what soup should feel like. To put it short, it felt like he was drinking a type of acid that wouldn’t totally kill him.
He knew that he had to be nice to Leeteuk about this but even he had his own limits. “Well hyung…it’s very…unique?”
“Unique? Are you insane? Leeteuk, what the hell did you do to this soup?” asked Heechul with a mouthful of rice, trying to get the horrid taste out of his mouth.
“I didn’t do anything! I just followed the instructions.” Leeteuk smiled proudly at his creation and took a bite of rice.
At those words, the whole table froze. Shindong coughed. “This was packaged soup?”
“Of course, I know how you all feel with my cooking, so I made packaged soup and baked some frozen fish.”
Hankyung poked the ‘fish’ on his plate in distain. “This is fish? I’m sorry to say this but I thought it was beef or something.”
“Leeteuk, a word of advice.” Leeteuk looked at Heechul in hopes of words of praise. “Don’t step into the kitchen ever again. You can’t cook to save your life.”
Leeteuk frowned. “If that’s so, then why is Kangin eating okay?”
“Kangin would eat anything you make, he is that dumb and love-sick over you!” Heechul muttered something else before stabbing the slice of ‘fish’ with his fork and throwing it at Donghae.
Normally, Donghae would have yelled out in protest to being assailed by fish, but didn’t say anything as soon as tension settled in the air. Kangin froze in mid bite of the fish and looked over to Leeteuk. Kangin had always felt something more than friendship for the leader but never really worded his affection towards Leeteuk to anyone. Unfortunately, his love for him was obvious enough for everyone but the boy in question to notice.
Kangin observed the smaller boy and could have sworn he saw a tinge of pink grace his cheeks. “ HAHAHA! That’s funny Heechul! Kangin? In love with me? Heh, that’s a good one! Oh what’s that? I think I hear my phone ringing! I better go get it!” Leeteuk said loudly with fake cheeriness dripping off each word as he inched towards his bedroom before darting over to his room and slamming the door shut.
Yesung looked at the retreating back of the leader before he disappeared. “What was all that about?”
“Knowing Leeteuk-hyung, he’s probably having feelings towards Kangin-hyung and doesn’t think he feels the same way.” Sungmin nodded confidently.
Donghae turned to Kangin. “Are you serious?” Kangin bent his head in shame, expecting some sort of disgusted comment about him liking Leeteuk. He did not, however, expect what came next. “You’re so obvious though! How can hyung not see you’re feelings for him?”
“Huh?”
Shindong clapped a hand on his shoulder seriously. “I feel so proud of you. You managed to eat this and still not want to hit Leeteuk for ruining perfectly good food.”
Heechul then made kissy faces. “Kangin will probably eat anything that Leeteuk made because he made it wif wuv.” Soon the rest of the members had joined in with pulling faces and lips puckering at him.
Kangin growled and hit some of the members over their head before storming out of the apartment. Heechul smirked. “He probably went out to drink his lonely sorrows away.”
Ryeowook looked pensive. “I wonder how they’ll confess to each other.”
“Who knows, but these days or weeks to come are going to be interesting!” Eunhyuk grinned identical smiles as Donghae.
-
The next morning, Leeteuk woke up late, since it was everyone’s day off, to some of the other members laughing at the cartoons that were showing on TV. He sighed tiredly and decided that 11am was a good time as any to get up for the day.
Making his way to the kitchen, he did not expect to see Kangin hunched over the kitchen table, sporting an icepack on his head. “Drink too much last night?” All Leeteuk got was a grunt as a response.
Leeteuk sighed and placed some instant porridge into the microwave before taking some Tylenol out of the medicine cabinet. “Here, it’ll make you feel better.” Kangin gratefully took the medicine and dry swallowed it, making Leeteuk frown and shove a cup of water under his nose. “Drink,” ordered Leeteuk sternly, giving no choice for Kangin but to comply.
Once the microwave beeped, Leeteuk started to mix the porridge to make it thicker for them to eat. He took a spoonful and lightly blew at it before holding it to Kangin’s mouth. “Kangin-ah, you should eat something or you’ll get sick.”
Kangin reluctantly took the spoonful, mentally happy that it was safe to eat and that it soothed his sore throat. Leeteuk continued to feed him, with occasional spoons for himself, until there was barely any left. He then leaned his head against Kangin’s forehead and whispered softly to him.
“Feeling better?” Leeteuk felt his cheeks warm when he head Kangin moan in confirmation. “That’s good.” He didn’t realise his affectionate feelings towards his dongsaeng until just recently because he had always had felt this way for Kangin. Once he realised what they were, he felt his heart race faster than normal when even just thinking about Kangin, let alone seeing him. From then on, he had been careful of his actions since he thought that Kangin saw him as a hyung.
Leeteuk’s eyes slipped closed, enjoying the time of relaxation when he heard cooing and teasing voices from the doorway.
“Ooooh! Leeteuk and Kangin sitting in the tree!” Donghae and Eunhyuk had put their hands on either side of their faces to make exaggerated puckered lips at them.
Heechul then popped out of nowhere and joined in on the teasing. “K-I-S-S-I-N-G! Oh-la-la!” Hankyung looked apologetically at Leeteuk for not keeping Heechul back from the teasing.
“First comes looooove!”
Kibum put his hands over his ears. “Urgh, you guys are so annoying!”
“Then comes marriage!” Ryeowook and Siwon looked at the pair being terrorized, worried about what will happen next.
“Then come babies like Henry!!”
That seemed set Leeteuk off as he slammed his hands on the table, causing Kangin wince from his headache. “That’s it!! There’s nothing between Kangin and I! Urgh! Why are you so childish?!” With that, Leeteuk stormed out of the apartment for some fresh air.
“Aww, look at Kangin-ah,” said Heechul as he pointed at the man who looked lost without Leeteuk.
Once the others had left Kangin to nurse over the emptiness he was feeling from Leeteuk leaving, Sungmin sat down across from him and looked at him seriously. “I think it best if you just confess to him. Seriously, it’ll spare everyone the pain of the others annoying you.” Sungmin nodded his head in the direction of where Donghae, Eunhyuk and Heechul were in the lounge room.
Kangin then narrowed his eyes at Sungmin. “Why do you care so much about this?” Sungmin merely shivered at the memory he was left with that morning.
“Do you know how late I had to sleep last night because they couldn’t stop laughing over this? And then Donghae and Eunhyuk decide to wake me up at god knows how early in the morning when I was planning on sleeping in!” Sungmin then leaped forward and grabbed Kangin by the collar. “You have to end this!” He then stood up and straightened out his pajamas he was still in and nodded at Kangin before leaving.
“This place has gone crazy,” mutter Kangin but decided to take Sungmin’s advice anyways.
-
He could hear fans screaming outside as he and the rest of Super Junior continued to get ready for their performance on M!Countdown. Kangin sighed and wondered how he was going to tell Leeteuk his feelings when the boy in question moved over to him, straightening his collar for him.
“Kangin-ah, your hair is out of place already!” Leeteuk stood on his toes and attempted to straighten out his hair without the stylists knowing. During this, Kangin had gotten a whiff of Leeteuk and sighed heavenly as he continued to inhale Leeteuk’s smell.
Leeteuk was concentrating as hard as he could on fixing Kangin’s hair but found he couldn’t, what with their close proximity. Leeteuk gulped nervously and randomly patted Kangin’s hair, hoping that he didn’t make it worse.
Kangin saw Leeteuk’s adam’s apple bob up and down, which made Kangin in turn start to sweat nervously. He squeezed his eyes closed, trying to block the images of his angel smiling at him. Once he failed, he opened his eyes again and saw that Donghae and Eunhyuk behind Leeteuk’s back, making fake love CFs at him, as if hinting him to do something.
After seeing that, Kangin had enough and grabbed Leeteuk’s hand, which was in the middle of tidying his hair, and dragged him out of the room. “We’ll be back in 10 minutes!!”
“K-Kangin-ah, where are we going?” Leeteuk stressed as it was almost time for their performance. “It’s almost time for us to perform!”
“I have to tell you something important first!” Kangin lead them both to an empty room and locked the door.
Leeteuk looked at him tiredly. “Well what is it?” When Leeteuk looked up, Kangin was in front of him, staring deep into his eyes. Leeteuk felt him gasp as his heart got caught in his throat. “Y-Youngwoon-ah?”
Kangin leant forward with the intent of kissing him when he felt something that was not Leeteuk’s soft lips meet with his. “Huh?” Kangin opened his eyes to see him kissing Leeteuk’s hand instead.
“We shouldn’t do this here. We should wait until we get back to the dorm.” Leeteuk smiled meekly but quickly kissed Kangin on the cheek to prevent depression for settling in. Kangin smiled in response and took his hand before leading them out towards the stage.
-
After a successful performance and once everyone had settled back at the apartment, Kangin finally leaned over to Leeteuk with a cheeky smile. “You know, I think we should continue where we left off.”
Leeteuk held a finger in front of Kangin. “I think you have to earn it first.”
Kangin looked thoughtful before pouting at Leeteuk’s retreating form. Just as he was about to disappear from his sight, Kangin got a brilliant idea. “Jungsu-hyung!” Kangin cried out desperately, making Leeteuk look back at him.
Leeteuk’s eyes widened as he saw what looked like Kangin rolling on the floor, choking on something. “Youngwoon-ah!” Leeteuk quickly ran to him and held him up, shaking him. “What happened?! What’s wrong?! What did you eat?! Do you need CPR?!”
Kangin weakly nodded his head before puckering his lips for Leeteuk. Seeing this, Leeteuk laughed at what Kangin’s plan was and placed his lips on Kangin’s anyways. Leeteuk moved his lips over Kangin’s hoping to savour the moment and make it last. Eventually, Kangin slipped his tongue into Leeteuk’s mouth and kissed him hungrily.
“Eww, I know that we teased you guys but you didn’t have to make out in public!” Donghae shook his head and ran to Eunhyuk before the pair went off to probably disturb Sungmin from sleeping.
Leeteuk turned to Kangin and smiled softly. “I love you.” He gently kissed along Kangin’s jaw line, causing Kangin to moan.
“I love you too but I have a request.”
Leeteuk narrowed his eyes at Kangin. “What is it?”
Kangin smiled weakly. “Please don’t cook ever again.” Leeteuk laughed and kissed him once more.
