For beta-ing, I haven't done it before, but is it just grammar checking and stuff like that? It it's technical stuff, I could help, but if it's to help with improvements on the story itself, I'm not sure I'd have the confidence to do that.

Beta-ing is basically grammer check and spelling. Sometimes when you write you miss a word that someone else catches. They also make sure the story sounds good and makes sense. Like maybe this part will sound better if you reword it like this. Watching dialogue and helping make sure readers don't get lost. =p
