Ahhh ain't it the truth! SOOOOO Spot on B! It is really sad and I agree with you-- something is seriously fucked up w/ this country's wage disparity. Just out of curiosity, I danced around and browsed a few teach-english-in-Japan websites and was taken aback. The salary is larger than I make in a month working 50-60 hr weeks creating products that literally rake in millions. I haven't seen a salary increase in years despite how much I've made in profit. It is obscene. I could live in a foreign country I love and work normal 35-40 hr week and still make more. hahahaha
The teach-English-in-Japan programs are...interesting. I've known a handful of people who have done them, with mixed results. The best thing to do (honestly) is to find a private school which is hiring. After all the financial difficulties the JET program had, most people seem leery of government-sponsored hiring companies. ^_^
The job I've applied for in the UAE pays almost double what I make here in the USA, since they also pay for all of my apartment rental and flights to/from USA. I basically will make $4800/month and my only real bills will be food, utilities, and internet (for a total of about $500 a month, or less). And the best part: there is no income tax in the UAE and since it is less than $110k and I'll be living abroad, I don't pay US income tax, either. So...TAX FREE MONIES!
