Transit of Venus

Anyone else gearing up (literally) to watch the transit of Venus on Tuesday?  Your next chance is in the year 2117.

I hadn't heard about this, but it's awesome! I'm certainly going to make an effort to view it, we have a really nice telescope we never use.

You should check and see if the local university's astronomy department is hosting anything. U of M(ichigan) is setting up a camera on one of their fancy telescopes, so that everyone can view it on a big TV screen without damaging their retinas. :)

Crap this is like right now isnt it? Man my mom has a telescope but I have no idea where it is and neither does she :(

Transit starts at around 6:05 and is until sunset (around 9). I think EMU's observatory is doing something for this? I know UofM has a thing at Angell Hall this evening.

Unless your telescope has a solar filter, you shouldn't use your personal telescope to look at the sun because it can cause retina damage. ;)
