Under the cut some thinky thoughts about Supernatural!
I was reading an excerpt from the book In the Hunt,a SmartPop's publication of Supernatural essays,and I thought I'd share with you some thinky thoughts!On the SmartPop's page you can read this:
Supernatural is more than a show about fighting demons. It’s about more than a cool car, a kick-ass soundtrack and hot guys with guns. Supernatural is about family and sacrifice and heroism-about good and evil and the choices you make to stay in the hunt.
I think that "family and sacrifice" is what really makes me love this show so much and I'm sure is the most important reason why those characters and their stories still own our hearts!
John sacrificed his family for vengeance and then himself to save Dean,he maybe felt responsible for all his sons sufferings and decided that selling his soul for Dean's life was worth the price and it was also a punishment to accept for all his mistakes.
Dean sacrificed his life to follow his father's mission (even if he never had the chance to choose) and to take care of Sam (even if this is not a sacrifice,it's his big brother's natural instinct),he's been a mother,a father and a brother...of course he sold his soul to bring him back,he couldn't bare to live without Sam but most of all 'cause he thought Sam was the one who deserved to live!
Sammy sacrificed his normal life,his dreams,his hopes and his "innocence" accepting a hunter's life and his powers.
I know this is only the tip of the iceberg,I know there are many layers under my thoughts,but I just wanted you to share with me your perspectives!
I will start with a question that always breaks my dean!girl heart:
Why Dean has got that low of an opinion of himself?
Remember this scene?
...have you got that low of an opinion of yourself?...
...he is my brother...
I think Dean's answer is just perfection!But that's my big sister heart talking!:P
