I've been meaning to post this for forever but look! Yasu and I have the same notebook! XD

I think this is from the Ariehen special which I actually never saw. Could never find it >Yasu must like the quote on the front which reads ( Read more... )

I feel the same about Twitter just not giving the same chance for communal flail and building relationships that LJ does. I've been trying to post more on LJ when I feel the inclination instead of thinking "Oh, that's not important enough," but a lot of times it feels like I'm just sending my rambling out into a vacuum since people maybe aren't checking LJ or just don't feel like replying. I miss the sense of community there was in my earlier days in fandom, and I wish I knew what to do to bring that back, even a little bit.

I haven't been able to check out clubbox lately because it won't work on my computer, but I'm going to borrow my brother's and see if I can find anything. It's a lot harder than it used to be, it seems, but maybe I'll manage something...

It's hard to keep the motivation to post when LJ is so dead in general. It's definitely a "what's the point?" kind of feeling. Though I guess all it takes is a few people to keep it alive. And maybe if more people start posting again there might be a kind of revival? Sarah says a lot of people are still checking LJ and that as long as we keep posting there will be comments, but the desire has to be there. If most ljers now want to devote their time mainly to twitter and tumblr then there's not much we can do unless LJ becomes a draw again by being the main source of fandom news.

Ah, that would be great! I have another friend who plans to poke around clubbox so hopefully you girls will have some luck.

I looked through my past entries to look for something a few days ago and it reminded me the days when I mostly post fangirl spam on LJ. I thought about bringing that up again. Ever since I started to fangirl on Twitter, there wasn't much to write about on LJ..

I've been thinking about joining Tumblr because everyone has joined, but I'm afraid that it'll suck up more of my life XD

I'm not fluent in Chinese but I can get the general idea of what people wrote. I can help out in any way I can.

Yeah I was reluctant to get a tumblr too for that reason XD

That would be great! Maybe you can poke around Sina and see what their rules are?

I'm definitely willing to help out with magazines and stuff! Sarah and I talked about this as well. I said I'd be willing to buy some and mail them to her so she could scan them (I'd say that I would scan, but the chances of me actually doing this regularly are questionable. XD). But I can definitely buy/mail things. I'd definitely be willing to help out. :)

And yeah I wish people were on LJ more. It feels like we're all spread out now and I wish it weren't like that. I know I'm guilty too since I don't post as much as I used to. Maybe if we all tried to post more...

I realised that the only problem with you buying and me scanning is at the very least, there'd still be a week long delay in getting the scans out >_

I mentioned this to Sarah before, and maybe it's not something you guys are comfortable with, but I think it would make more sense for all of us here to pitch in and buy a scanner. If Sarah could help out to then that would be great. I haven't looked into prices yet but a basic one shoudn't be more than 10,000yen right? Then whoever has the time and can promise to do the scanning regularly they can keep it at their place.

The thing with mailing it to Sarah is that it's just not practical. It's not really the delay that's the issue (if people are getting it they shoudn't complain that it's late!) but with how much shipping can be I think you'll spend more sending a bunch of mags to England every month than is worth it. And 3 to 4 months of shipping (if shipping is say 2000 yen each time) is enough to pay for a scanner. You'd end up spending so much more in the end.

I don't know, what do you think?

Yeah, I'm going to try to post more but seriously, I resent twitter XD

I kinda feel bad that I DON'T feel disconnected from fandom rn and I don't know why? XD I was last year, though, and that was partly cos of all the Jedwarding lol but also because I was just SO annoyed by the secrecy and taboos that have developed, but then I decided to go to Japan and somehow that solved the problem? In fact, even from 8Uppers coming out, that was the turning point for me. So... idk how, but I'm not complaining! But I feel so zen in my fandom place rn that it makes me sad others aren't feeling the same, and also I wish there was something I could do to help! I mean, I've posted LOADS more on LJ lately, and I've been trying to comment more even though I haven't always succeeded... I also think people definitely check LJ, even if they don't post. I've almost always kept checking, even in my most distant moments, lol. So if you post, there's a better chance of people replying than if you don't ( ... )

Well, I'll try to post more and see what happens. The thing is I don't have much to post about when I'm so clueless about most of the stuff I do see/hear about (I never know where it's from) and watching people already make comments on tumblr or twitter it just seems redundant. But maybe I'm just making excuses XD

K8Update is really useful, thank you <3

The more people we bring into the discussion the better. Maybe a post in Eden is in order.

And I commented to Alissa above about mags/scans if you want to have a look :)

It would be awesome if this fandom is more active. You can count me in buying some magazine. actually, I was going to subscribe for a year to Wink Up just to scan it for eito fandom (
I have Canon PIXMA MP240, which is great printer/copier/scanner at the same time) but sadly CDJapan didn't accept PayPal payments for yearly subscriptions. I ended up buying Wink Up & Duet (March issues), but I'm still waiting to get them. The only thing that bothers me is the shipping fees T_T if I want to get the magazine as soon as it's out, that means I have to pay too much money! and I can't do it monthly :(

Yeah, shipping costs are a pain >< That's why I think it would save a lot of money in the long run if we could all raise money for the group of us here in Japan to buy a scanner. Because we'll buy the magazines no problem, but we just don't have a scanner XD I know it's kind of >< to ask for hep buying one because people would be paying for something they wouldn't use themselves, but considering everyone would get to see the scans every month it is getting your money's worth. And that way since we're here, we can also scan doujin, Y&J fanzines, pamphlets, flyers, etc....

It would definitely have to be a team effort.

But yeah, thanks for your willingness to help ♥

buying a scanner is a really great idea *_* and I think some people are willing to help.

if you post this at eden, I think the more people want to help, the less they are going to pay. so I think they won't complain to pay for something they wouldn't use. I mean come on, even a 1$ could make a difference XD
