I finally went to the vet today for them to only confirm what I already knew -- my cat's kidneys are not in the best of shape. It's disgusting to touch him, he's so skinny. I just equated it to old age. And there's really no cure for that. But I do wish that I could've brought him to the vet sooner. He's been like this for a good month or so now. ( Read more... )

Tiger died of renal failure a few months ago. It's the most common cause of death in adult cats. He too became very very skinny as his body digested what fat and muscle he had left to stay alive. It rapidly accelerated and before long he was barely able to walk, such was his muscle condition. It all happened in the space of 2 or 3 days. It was horrible. But in the end you have to do what's best for them. I could have put him on a drip, re-hydrated his kidneys, but he would have returned to the same state. It would have been for me, not him ( ... )
