If I am to love through you, you must be willing to let go of your idea that if you love others, you will be loved in return.

Oi, I don't like this thought at all at all.

There is a verse about casting our pearls before swine.  I have come to believe that my love is a pearl that is precious.  And somehow I have also come to believe that casting that ( Read more... )

I love the way you think and just the fact that you ask these type of questions of yourself........makes you someone people should care about.

I am unaware of your age. But continue to be picky as you say...unconditional love is reserved for your own children and animals...otherwise it really is a two way street.

In my humble opinion!

Wow, thank you! I think a lot and in that thinking I've come to believe that asking ones self questions makes ones faith, purpose, and life more...real? Real is the closest word I can think of to partially describe what I mean ( ... )

Ooo, thinky thoughts. I believe this is a legitimately rough concept to try and swallow - especially in today's society, where we've been taught a level of self importance that sometimes nears idolatry. Our society as a whole uses the word "I" way too much.

That being said, it's just discomfiting to try and put yourself in the mind frame of loving without expecting that back. In general, I think I can manage not to expect love back, exactly. But I can't imagine not expecting at least...respect, maybe.

Also, I'm not sure this is saying to love everyone and not expect it back. I think you can still choose who to love. Just don't base that decision on whether or not you'll get anything back. And I think you're better at that than you give yourself credit for.

I mean, you sent a crazy long email of love out into cyberspace without expecting anything. Sure, you got me, but you couldn't have known that.

Or something.

My thinky thoughts are frazzled tonight. Kudos to you if you make something of them.
