You know, this post makes me wish I read darker stuff, since just this snippet sounds awesome. But, alas, for the sake of my mental health, I've learned to stick to the WAFF-y side of the fence. I have no doubt you and Anissa will more than do it justice, though. :)

And yup, totally hearing you on characters who have unexpected depths. I'm writing a pretty dark (for me) story at the moment, and the protagonist just managed to dump another bucketload of angst on himself when I wasn't looking. And yet... it's that angst that makes him who he is. *shakes head at Muse, and self*

Oh yes, excellent. I'm a big fan of dragging characters to the edge of desperation, as I'm sure you know, so I have no doubt I'm going to be hanging on every word these next few chapters. :D

I so love dragging characters right to the edge like that, too. >:D Aftermath was really my crowning achievement on that scale, thanks in part to its sheer SIZE. And yeah, my characters surprise me *constantly*. I think my Kitty surprised me the most in Aftermath, for pulling through everything I had Luthor do to her (and MY GODS, it was ugly), and coming through as one of the major heroes of the story. I need to write more of her in that 'verse, I think, too...

But I need to stop contemplating and go perform my bi-weekly beta duties. *salutes* :p
