Q & A Meme: What Kind of Pagan Am I? (No lightbulb jokes here)

rizny posted this comment to my Q & A Meme:

I'm curious, both personally (I was very interested in this in middle/high school) and as a religious studies major, as to what sort of paganism/whatever you subscribe to. Would you label yourself as belonging to any specific tradition, or do you consider yourself eclectic?

Well, this might take a while to ( Read more... )

Ooh, long detailed answer, thanks! I'm working on replying, but in the meantime if you're around you might be interested in this - assuming you don't actually have a sockpuppet journal that I don't know about (and maybe this - the comments are funny).

Psst... I do have a sockpuppet journal, but I've never posted with it and it has no userpics.

Sorry for rudely butting in ... I saw your comment there - this may be a really stupid question but ... are there actual sockpuppets (er, I mean for causing harm not just for t00bing around)_ in this fandom that I should be aware of?

I sort of got burned - TWICE - in the HP fandom so now I'm wondering ...

(I'm not talking about what Anissa said about having one but not using it - I actually have a private LJ that I use just to post private stuff in (though I rarely use it) and sometimes lurk on communities so that's not what I mean. I mean people who create sock puppets to cause harm.)

I have no idea, I think sockpuppeting to cause harm is mostly done in larger fandoms like HP. Everyone in Superman fandom I've seen so far is pretty dang awesome, and I do mean everyone. Although Smallville fans can get wanky, but let's not include them, for the sake of the argument.

I also have a couple of other LJs...two that I used successively in high school until I got to college and realized I had no interest in keeping up with my high school friends (long story); a private one for some things; and this one used to be private for other things but (obviously) isn't anymore. And I feel like I'm forgetting one but oh well. Anyway, I think everyone has sockpuppets. I didn't actually think that was Anissa's sock, but the picture freaked me out because it looked just like her at first glance.

What happened to you in HP fandom, if you don't mind talking about it? I'm curious.

And you're not butting in - well, okay, technically you are, but it's not like I mind, and I'm sure A. doesn't either, ya silly goose ;D *glomps you*

Ok, real comment time ...

This was interesting to read. I sort of envy that and Lois celebrate together as I really miss that. I haven't been involved with any sort of group since that one circle I told you about. (The guy who freaked out because our HP came out of the closet - I think I told you about that? He was a complete hypocrite, always going on about how Pagans are treated poorly but then went on a whole bunch of BS about her being gay.)

I'm pretty much eclectic as it were - well, sort of. To be honest I don't really practice much but I know what I believe if that makes sense. Though I do sort of want to get back into celebrating and honoring the sabaats more. Maybe next week ...

:)
