Dog Training Post!

Dusty learned 'sit' today!  Well, he hasn't yet learned that it's called 'sit', but he's learned that if I offer him a treat, I won't let him take it until he sits.  In one or two more training sessions I will teach him the command and the hand signal.  This has not been easy for him - thanks to his conformation, he rarely sits voluntarily, and ( Read more... )

Patience is the key for everything whether it is dogs, horses or people for that matter.

Amen. So very, very true, especially with people. I am not a patience person by nature, but it's a skill I am having to learn.

Interesting stuff. The last part makes me think of "Training [leash-yanking] is nothing. Will is everything!" from Batman Begins, which we just watched again last night.

A lot of trainers and owners think that dogs do sense our will and our intentions, to an extent. I have a hypothesis about that...
